Florida Jews in the Military
Amazing Miami Attractions -- In tribute to all veterans, the Museum will mount an exhibit on the story of Floridian Jews who have served in the military. Throughout history, the supreme offering a human being could make for his nation was to put one’s life on the line for the ideals and freedom of that nation. The military offered a direct route to acculturation, especially for new immigrants. Floridian Jews have fought for every conflict from the Seminole Wars when the city of Ft. Myers was named for Col. Abraham C. Myers through the Civil War when Morris Dzialynski of Jacksonville and many others served, to the World Wars, Korean, Viet Nam, Gulf and battles of the 21st Century!

Dzine
Drawing in large part from Chicano lowrider culture and his own Puerto Rican background, Dzine creates ornate handmade lowrider bikes and plaques to explore the relationship between culture and beauty, the studio and the street and the cross section of high and lowbrow forms of creating art. For his exhibition at the Bass Museum of Art, Dzine will present a new custom lowrider tricycle inspired by the concept of "Ghost Bike" memorials. Installed in the entryway of the museum, will be a unique custom sculptural form of light and audio in the shape of a classic chandelier.

Kent Henricksen: Wayward We Hunt
Artist Kent Henricksen's new works subtly bring to life his personal examinations of social science by integrating foreign ideals into proverbial western settings. One of his main concerns is the eternal investigation of psychological and physical boundaries that human beings deal with in their everyday lives. He archives figures and landscapes from diverse sources in order to establish dialogues between the past and the present. Furthermore, he uses embroidery both as a means to illustrate imagined narratives, allowing the viewers to make a simple associations to the subject-matter. The installation featured at the Bass Museum includes wallpaper, sconces, and "paintings," which are comprised of silkscreen on wallpaper.
