‘DID YOU KNOW…’
In 2007, Hialeah Park was listed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in America. The South Florida landmark is now getting ready for a grand re-opening on November 28, 2009. Racing dates have been approved by the state of Florida and the track will introduce quarter-horse racing for the first time. Built in 1925, Hialeah Park and Race Track will continue to undergo an extensive restoration. The famous Hialeah flamingos were imported from Cuba by owner Joseph E. Widener in 1932. Their brightly plumed descendants are still flying happily over Hialeah today.
‘DID YOU KNOW…’
In 2007 the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau was accredited by the Destination Marketing Association International [DMAI].
