From tennis matches and cattle shows to music festivals and gay pride celebrations, April is brimming with lots of fun events.
Miami Sports Month: April 1 - 30
Highlighting active ways to enjoy the springtime, Miami Sports Month is all about getting outside and staying active. For more ideas and money-saving deals, visit miamisportsmonth.com.
Miami Open: March 20 - April 2
The top tennis players in the world compete at the Miami Open presented by Itaú tennis tournament each year on Key Biscayne. Whether you are looking to see a future Hall of Famer, a multiple Grand Slam champion, or a rising star, all will be on display at the Crandon Park Tennis Center. Fashion brand Lacoste is also sponsoring the event again this year and is offering a special collection designed specifically for the Miami Open. Individual session tickets start at $20 and packages begin at $136.
The Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition: March 23 - April 16
The Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition hosts a variety of indoor and outdoor events, including the Youth Fair. It's the largest fair in Florida and includes more than 90 carnival rides, livestock and agricultural competitions, live concerts and more. Tickets start at $10.
O, Miami Poetry Festival: April 1 - 30
Each spring, the O, Miami Poetry Festival attempts to deliver a poem to every single person in Miami-Dade County. Sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the festival features more than 40 free events and 20 projects throughout the city.
Miami Riverday Festival: April 1
Cruise down the Miami River on free boat rides, enjoy live music performances and learn more about the Lummas Park Historic District at the Miami Riverday Festival from 1 to 6 p.m. on April 1. Event admission is free.
South Beach Triathlon: April 2
Test your physical fitness at the South Beach Triathlon. Athletes will compete by running, swimming and biking along Miami Beach's gorgeous shoreline. Life Time Tri is hosting the 2017 South Beach Triathlon with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to featured charity partner, Save the Children.
Locales Festival by Chef James: April 2
This first annual Locales Festival by Chef James is a one-day celebration of the Latin American community and Miami's diverse culture. Taking place at Downtown Miami's Bayside Marketplace, the festival will also celebrate Bayside's 30th birthday. Highlights include live music performances and film competitions, interactive sports activities and a taste of the vibrant culinary scene with celebrity chefs from Miami's top restaurants. Admission is $50 for adults (21+), $25 for young adults (13 - 20) and free for children 12 and under.
Hispanicize: April 3 - 6
Latino trendsetters and entrepreneurs unite for Hispanicize Week 2017. The event will take place at the JW Marriott Miami from April 3-6, 2017. Hispanicize is a launch pad for creative endeavors, new products, technologies, marketing campaigns, films, books and more. Registration starts at $250.
Miami Beach Gay Pride: April 7 - 9
Featuring a vibrant parade with more than 80,000 participants, the Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival is a weekend full of non-stop celebration. Highlights include the High Heel Race, Gay Pride Parade, Miami Pride Cruise and parties at area nightclubs. The mission of Miami Beach Gay Pride is to bring together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and their allies with the Miami community. Ticket prices vary depending on the event.
The Longines Global Champions Tour: April 13 - 15
Talented riders and their horses will showcase their jumping skills right on the sands of South Beach for the The Longines Global Champions Tour. As the second leg of the 15-event Championship, Miami Beach will provide the perfect backdrop as the world's top horses and riders compete to gain valuable points in the overall Championship season battle. Visitors will have free access to seating around the arena on a first-come, first-served basis.
Miami Cattle Show: April 14 - 16
Cows in Miami? Absolutely. Attracting 50,000 attendees each year, the Miami International Agricultural, Horse and Cattle Show is held at the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park. View live auctions, cattle and horse shows, live music performances, a car show, food trucks and an interactive FarmVille exhibit with live farm animals.
TransAtlantic Festival: April 21 - 22
Hosted by The Rhythm Foundation, the TransAtlantic Festival features international music from the Atlantic Rim. Experience electronic dance music culture at the North Beach Bandshell on Miami Beach. Tickets start at $15 per person.
MiFo LGBT Film Festival: April 21 - 30
Designed to educate the public about LGBT experiences, the MiFo LGBT Film Festival takes place in various locations around Miami and Miami Beach. The 10-day event features more than 65 films. Ticket prices vary depending on the screening.
Miami Rum Renaissance Festival: April 22 - 23
What better place for rum connoisseurs to unite, then in Miami? The Miami Rum Renaissance Festival will feature rums from the Caribbean and all over the region at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Tickets start at $75 for one-day general admission or $175 for a two-day VIP pass.
Redland Blues & Barbecue Festival: April 22 - 23
Sing the blues and chow down on traditional slow-cooked barbecue at the Redland Blues & Barbecue Festival at the Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead. Family-friendly activities include pony rides and games for the kids. General admission is $8 per person and children 11 and under are free.
Aids Walk Miami: April 23
Get your heart pumping for a good cause at the annual Aids Walk Miami. Taking place on Miami Beach, the event is a 5K walk-a-thon fundraiser through the picturesque streets of South Beach benefiting over 15,000 individuals living in Miami-Dade and Broward Communities who are infected with or have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run: April 27
Take strides for better health at the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run. Unlike most races of it’s kind that occur in the early morning, this 5k run/walk happens after work in Downtown at Bayfront Park. Registration is $40 per team member.
Miami International Jazz Festival: April 27 - 29
Groove to the smooth sounds of live jazz at the Miami International Jazz Festival, presented by The City of Miami and the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs. Ticket prices vary.
SoFlo Cake & Candy Expo: April 28 - 30
If you have a sweet tooth, then the SoFlo Cake & Candy Expo is for you. Join industry professionals and hobby bakers at this conference at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Tickets start at $24.
