Fruit and Spice Park

The Fruit and Spice Park, a 35-acre public facility, is owned and managed by the Miami-Dade County Park and Recreation Department. The park, established in 1944 by Preston B. Bird and Mary Calkins Heinlein, is home to over 500 varieties of vegetation from all around the world, which thrive in the unique tropical climate of Florida that is unavailable elsewhere in the continental United States. The Miami Fruit and Spice Park also features annual fruit festivals throughout the year such as the Annual Redland Natural Art Festival and the Asian Culture Festival.

Visitors to the Miami Fruit and Spice Park can taste various fruit and spices at the Park Store’s tasting counter. The Fruit and Spice Park also has a gift shop offering a variety of products year round including dried and canned fruit, juices, jams, jellies, unusual seeds, cold fruit juices, cookbooks, books on tropical fruits and vegetables and much more. The Fruit and Spice Park is typically open 7 days a week, except Christmas. The gift shop is open during regular park hours.
