King Mango Strut

December 26, 2010

The popular Coconut Grove parade traces its beginnings to the early 1980s when its co-founders attempted to enter the Orange Bowl Parade as the Merry Mango Marching Band, but were rejected. Rather than succumb to self-pity, the pair started their own parade, the King Mango Strut, and the rest is history.

This annual parody of traditional holiday parades is a Coconut Grove classic. Enjoy whimsical costumes and zany spoofs of events and people in the news. Parade route includes Commodore Plaza, Main Highway and Grand Avenue. 2 p.m.

King Mango Strut Location
The King Mango Strut is held in downtown Coconut Grove. The parade route runs along Main Highway (at Commodore Plaza), turns on Grand Avenue and finishes on Commodore Plaza.
