Lincoln Road
Lincoln Road has long been a legendary name in Miami Beach shopping. During its heyday around the middle of the 20th century, Lincoln Road was Miami Beach's answer to Fifth Avenue in New York and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Although no longer known as the Fifth Avenue of the South, Lincoln Road is celebrated for its shopping, dining, cultural activities and people-watching. The focal point of the Lincoln Road shopping district is a seven-block pedestrian mall known as Lincoln Road Mall.
About 400 businesses are located in the Lincoln Road shopping district. Familiar names in retailing include Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma, Ghirardelli Chocolate, Victoria's Secret and Anthropologie. Lincoln Road is a South Beach shopping hot spot, home to a number of art galleries, book stores, spas and salons, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and cinemas.
Lincoln Road is also home to the Frank Gehry designed New World Center, which is where the renowned New World Symphony performs. In addition to symphony concerts, New World Center also offers a free public program of movies and concerts called "wallcasts" which are screened outdoors at Soundscape Park.
Another building of architectural distinction on Lincoln Road is 1111 Lincoln Road, a mixed use carpark which was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. This unique structure houses retail shops, an entertainment space and a garage.
Lincoln Road hosts a weekly Farmers Market every Sunday and an outdoor antiques and collectibles market during selected weekends from October through May. Parking is available at nearby parking garages and a number of parking lots.
