Miccosukee Indian Village
Miccosukee Indian Village seems a world away from Miami even though the two are just 30 minutes apart. At the Miccosukee Indian Village, visitors are invited to learn about the Native American way of life, past and present. Miccosukee tribe members offer demonstrations of such traditional Indian arts and crafts as basket weaving, doll-making, woodcarving and sewing, while the Miccosukee Indian Museum of Natural and Tribal History features exhibits of clothing, sculptures, paintings and photos. The village's gift shop sells handmade goods, including Cherokee moccasins and Navajo silver jewelry. Alligator wrestling shows and airboat rides through the Florida Everglades are also offered. Visitors may sample such fare as frog legs, catfish and fry bread at the Miccosukee Indian Village's restaurant.
