Pelican Island
Pelican Island measuring in at 5,375 sq acres was the first national refuge ever established in the U.S. Pelican Island has recently been updated and features a boardwalk and observation tower to view Pelican Island, two hiking trails going around the island each 2.5 miles long, kayaking, canoeing, boating, a wildlife observation and photography tower, and so much more!
While you're there, be sure to visit the Pelican Island Welcome and Orientation Area where you can find valuable park information as well as info about the animals. The possibilities for discovery are endless. Pelican Island is a great place for nature lovers to get an up-close and personal view of an animal habitat.
