Bal Harbour: Beaches

Early risers, or those willing to make a little early morning wake up sacrifice, will be rewarded by the sunrise over the beach at Bal Harbour. One of the most quiet, clean and private beaches in Greater Miami, you’ll find early birds at this beach getting in their morning jog on the $3 million jogging track and families looking for a low key beach.

This beach is the ultimate option for those who want a quiet, natural surrounding with less of a party scene than the South Beach crowd. It has more of an adult vibe compared to some of Miami’s popular family-friendly beaches, including Crandon Park. Beachgoers on Bal Harbour’s semi-private 1,000 foot white sand beach are mostly staying in the adjacent luxury hotels, but the beach is open to the public and is a well-kept secret for a quiet beach experience.

Bal Harbour’s beach runs from approximately 96th Street and Collins, right where Bal Harbour and Surfside meet, to the tip of the island where Bal Harbour is separated from Haulover Beach by a bridge. There’s metered public parking located under the bridge at the tip of the island, just off Collins. The northernmost end of Bal Harbour’s beach features a sea wall to stroll along, which juts out a bit into the Atlantic. You’ll have a great view of the ocean as far as you can see and a mix of soaring trees, a beautiful bridge and the elegant resorts. Expect clear, bright turquoise water in this part of town.

Start the day by renting a cabana or setting out your towel on the beach. Then, take refuge in air conditioned shopping paradise at Bal Harbour Shops located just across the street.

The Resort Beach Experience

Bal Harbour was started as a luxury area in the 50s and hasn’t changed much since. The amenities have been kept up to the initial vision of an upscale luxurious paradise.

In 2012, the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort opened and was the first new hotel in the area in 50 years. The luxurious St. Regis prides itself on bespoke service and a high-end ultra private beach experience. Stay at the St. Regis to enjoy private cabanas, beach services and more special amenities. When you’re ready to take a break from the sand and surf, retreat to one of two heated infinity pools or the “adult-focused” tranquility pool. The expert staff will be right there waiting with foot reflexology samplers, smoothie tastings, sunscreen spritzing and refreshing cold towels.

The 18-story high ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa occupies the very tip of the island and is an ultra-private experience sure to impress even the most seasoned high-end traveler. At ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa it’s all about the waterfront experience in luxury. Dine at Mister Collins, their signature restaurant featuring fresh locally grown ingredients and local seafood. It’s the perfect meal to interrupt or end a day of beach lounging.

The Sea View Hotel is a more casual option in Bal Harbour with “Key West style cabanas” surrounding the pool. Their cabanas have fans and mini-refrigerators so that you can stay cool even on the warmest beach day. Order room service right to your cabana and you’ll never have to leave your slice of paradise right on Bal Harbour’s beach.

Jogging Path

The jogging path along the beach in Bal Harbour is one-of-a-kind. The 2002 project to further beautify this already lovely beach saw the installation of this path surrounded by only native plants on the dunes. The path starts from the northern end and winds all the way down to Village of Bal Harbour’s southern tip.
