Heading to Downtown Miami? Here’s how to get there from the airport.
Downtown Miami: $22
Whether you want to take public transportation, an airport shuttle service or rent your own car, there are plenty of ways for you to get from Miami International Airport to Downtown. When your flight lands in Miami, the first thing you need to decide is what form of transportation you want to use.
Quick & Affordable Option: Metrorail Orange Line
By far the easiest and cheapest option, just hop on the the MIA Mover, an automated train system, from the airport to the Miami Intermodal Center, which is located nearby.
The MIA Mover train station at the airport is located on the third level between the Dolphin and Flamingo Garages. Use the third level Skyride (moving walks) to access the MIA Mover station. Then it’s about a four-minute ride.
Once you get to the Miami Intermodal Center (which is just a fancy name for our airport transportation hub), you’ll take the Metrorail Orange Line ($2.25 per person, per trip) to either the Government Center stop in Downtown (where you can then transfer to the free Metromover) or the Brickell stop. Traveler Tip: There are two apps for iPhone and Android mobile devices that will help you navigate public transportation: the Miami-Dade Transit Tracker and the Miami Trolley App.
Hail a Cab or Hop in an Uber
The quickest option is probably to either take a taxi ($22 flat rate before tip) or a car service like Uber or Lyft (from $10 and up depending on traffic). Check out these articles to read more about both options:

Rent a Car
If you prefer to drive yourself, it’s now easier than ever to rent a car at the airport and head over to Downtown. All you need to do after picking up your bags is take the MIA Mover, from the airport to the Miami Intermodal Center.
The Rental Car Center is located next to the Miami Intermodal Center. There are a number of popular rental car companies at this location who can get you set up with a car and behind the wheel in no time. Read more about renting a car in Miami.
When you’re returning your rental car to the airport, plug in the following address into your GPS system: 3900 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33142. And make sure you allow plenty of time to return the car, ride the MIA Mover to the airport and check in for your flight.
