Why Vote For Miami 2016?

A LOOK AT THE ISSUES

Quality of Life

Miami is America’s ambassador for taking time-off!  What other candidate encourages you to work less and play more? Miami believes that no one who works 40 hours a week to put food on the table and balance family/work life should go without a vacation!  Great year-round weather, top-ranked beaches and the sparkling waters of Biscayne Bay are the backdrops for a cosmopolitan metropolis, pulsing with the rhythms of its diverse population. Boasting a now “grown up” yet playful arts and cultural landscape, renowned nightlife scene and world-class dining and entertainment, Miami invites an eclectic mix of visitors to come out and play -- from celebrities to families seeking fun in the sun.  Because there are so many ways to play here!

Economic Stimulus for your vacation budget

Miami is on sale and now is the time to book your trip. Amazing deals at Miami’s hotels, attractions and restaurants all available now. Miami also offers year-round deals on everything from dining, attractions, museums, spas, shopping and more!  Learn more about Miami’s Temptations programs - a series of ongoing monthly promotions by theme, such as Miami Cruise Month (January), Miami Romance Month (February), Shop Miami Month (March), Miami Sports Month (April), Miami Museum Month (May), Miami Film Month (June), Miami Spa Month (July-August), Miami Spice Restaurant Month (August-September), Miami Attractions Month (October), Miami Live Month (November), Miami Heritage and Month (December).

Well-Being

Miami supports well-being providing health and wellness opportunities throughout the destination.  Miami offers access to everything from beach volleyball, boardwalks, beach yoga and in-line skating to jet-skiing, parasailing, diving, fishing and boating – all with one of the coolest urban backdrops imaginable. Although the ocean is too calm for surfing, it’s perfect for families to boogie board and swim safely year-round.  Aside from great beaches and beach activities, outdoor recreation enthusiasts also have many parks to choose from, which include rivers for canoeists and kayakers.  Miami is also home to some of the world’s most luxurious spas and where pampering takes on a new meaning.  Sea-side massages, tropical infused body scrubs and some of the world’s most progressive health and wellness centers call Miami home.

Family

Miami unites families and helps create memories that will be cherished by young and old forever.  Nothing created bonds with your children and loved ones more than family time at one of Miami’s amazing attractions.  For many families, summer travel has become an overly-traveled path to mega theme parks, including hours standing on line waiting for something to happen.  For those tired of the usual family vacation suspects, Miami offers a surprising and refreshing alternative. Formerly known primarily as an adult playground for trend-conscious travelers, Miami has evolved into an exciting family destination as well, offering more intimate-sized attractions -- many in natural tropical settings -- without the long lines.  A wide variety of resorts throughout Greater Miami and the Beaches, from hip indie properties to national hotel chains, offer family programs, from immersion activities together to kid day camps where parents can steal away for romance and relaxation. From the Everglades and beaches surrounding the city, to quirky ethnic neighborhoods, family friendly museums and attractions, cool clans can find fun ways to connect in and out of the Caribbean blue waters. Education

Miami supports education!  This candidate offers visitors an open canvas to explore languages, cultures, history, eco-systems, visual and performing arts and so much more. Miami’s evolution into an international destination directly impacts cultural life. As more and more important visual and performing artists are attracted to live and work in Miami, the quality of exhibits and performances rises. As Miami molds itself into a 21st century arts mecca, the most renowned architects of our era, including Cesar Pelli, Robert A.M. Stern, Arquitectonica, Zaha Hadid, Sou Fujimoto, Frank Gehry, Herzog & DeMeuron, Grimshaw Architects and Arata Isozaki, are changing the city's face. Miami’s arts and culture renaissance is also evidenced by Museum Park, an environmentally friendly public space offering visitors a spectacular vantage point overlooking Biscayne Bay. The park is home to the latest museum architectural wonders to hit the arts scene, such as the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)—sustainably designed by Herzog & De Meuron and featuring 200,000 square feet of contemporary art, as well as educational tours and Verde, a waterfront restaurant and bar with locally inspired seasonal menus.  The park will also be the future home of The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, which is being designed by Grimshaw Architects. The latter is set to open in 2016, representing a complete revamp of the old science museum originally located in Coconut Grove.

Foreign Policy

Discover our rich heritage and find a Miami you never knew existed. Immerse yourself in a world where the tree-lined roadways are draped in green and vibrant colors. Our homes tell our story best –where we came from, what we brought and how we shaped what we found. Get to know us through our special places—our sun-drenched landscapes, simple pioneer dwellings, stately mansions, churches and temples, tourist-pleasing enclaves and colorful ethnic neighborhoods. You will be glad you did.

Environment

Miami is for the environment!  What other candidate provides you with the option to visit an ecological wonderland like The Everglades or the untouched pristine beaches of Key Biscayne?  And fact is that much of Miami’s allure comes from its natural wonders. Home to Everglades and Biscayne national parks and other eco-friendly attractions, Greater Miami and the Beaches is naturally green. Living and playing in paradise is a privilege and one we offer all visitors. While travelers can enjoy the sophistication and glamour of Miami’s urban entertainment, comfortable in the knowledge that the city is taking aggressive steps to be "clean and green," they can also rest easy that their playtime in nature is also respectful to the earth. Many people are surprised to discover that Miami boasts two national parks with many ways to appreciate astonishing natural worlds.  Covering 1.5 million acres, Everglades National Park is the third largest in the U.S. National Parks system. Made up of sawgrass prairies, mangrove swamps, subtropical jungle and the warm waters of Florida Bay, the park and its seemingly endless grassy waters are home to a rare community of plants and endangered animals. Visitors to the park can enjoy self-guided and ranger-led tours and activities from the Main Visitor Center at the Park's southeastern entrance, or journey deeper into the Everglades for a more extensive experience in the Florida wilderness.

A rarity among national parks, Biscayne National Park offers 173,000 acres to explore, 95 percent of which are under Miami’s clear Caribbean blue waters. Teeming with colorful sea life and plants, the park encompasses Biscayne Bay, the longest stretch of mangrove forest left on Florida's east coast, living coral reefs and 40 of the northernmost Florida Keys.
