Sailfish Cup Invitational
The Sailfish Cup Invitational in Miami Beach kicks off the sailfish season in South Florida in a big way. A major new sportfishing tournament first held in 2007, the Sailfish Cup guarantees $100,000 in prize money to the winning team, with the second- and third-place finishers pocketing $15,000 and $10,000, respectively. The Sailfish Cup is timed to coincide with another major sporting event in Greater Miami: the Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the final weekend of racing during the NASCAR season.
Special events held during the Sailfish Cup include a kick-off party, a dock party, an awards banquet, SRE stock-car racing simulator competition, and live and silent auctions benefiting The NASCAR Foundation and Speediatrics. The Miami Beach fishing tournament includes two days of fishing, with all sailfish being released back into the water after the catch has been videotaped.
The Sailfish Cup is produced by Executive Adventures, the company also responsible for the World Sailfish Championship in Key West, Florida.
