The Cleveland Orchestra in Miami: Mahler’s Ninth

    Music

Alban Berg wrote: "[It] is the most heavenly thing Mahler has written... an expression of an exceptional fondness for this earth, the longing to live in peace on it, to enjoy nature to its depths - before death comes... In the midst of the utmost intensity of almost painful joy in life." Mahler's stunning and breathtaking final symphony is a profound love song--a meditation on the beauty of life and the poignant joy of the evolution of time.

International Artist Series: Juan Antonio Guirado

    Museum Exhibit

Juan Antonio Guirado’s first exhibition took place in 1956 in Miami and he immediately experienced success. As a result, he would travel the entire world with his art. He sought new and seductive paths to explore which lead to his Intrarealist work. When asked to describe intrarealist painting, Guirado replied: “it is the type of painting that one has to see with the third eye, the eye of the mind.” A mix of Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism, Guirado’s work challenges the viewer to open their mind and eyes, to look within, and evaluate the reality of their surroundings.
