Wynwood

The newest edition to the rooftop bar scene, Wynwood finally has its own player in the game. Located at Wynwood Arcade, also the home of the Salty Donut, No. 3 Social Bar & Lounge is the brainchild of celebrity chef Norman Van Aken. Stop by for a lively happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Downtown

Head up to the 40th floor of the luxurious EAST, Miami Hotel and you’ll find SUGAR, a rooftop bar featuring Asian tapas and plenty of cocktails. Open daily starting at 4 p.m., the rooftop is like a hidden urban garden with lush landscaping and incredible city views.

For an authentic Miami nightclub experience, drop in at E11EVEN Miami in the Arts & Entertainment district of downtown, where big-name DJs, high-energy music, a crowded dance floor and burlesque dancers await you. If you’re in the mood for a more laid-back atmosphere, the club’s rooftop features different themed nights, an outdoor lounge, fire pits, hookah and bottle service.

Looking to start early? A popular rooftop bar scene during happy hour, Area 31 is situated on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel in downtown. Sway to the sounds of a live DJ by the pool and soak up the stunning city views featuring the Brickell Avenue skyline to the south and Biscayne Bay to the east. During the Social Hour promotion, “chase the clock” with $5 drinks at 5 p.m., $6 at 6 p.m., $7 at 7 p.m. and so on until 11 p.m.

Nosh on delicious eats and sip handcrafted cocktails at Edge Steak & Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Miami. The indoor bar has a great happy hour scene, but for a mellow al fresco experience, head out to the comfy fire pit lounge area on the seventh-floor pool terrace.

Coconut Grove

Located in the heart of tropical Coconut Grove, the Mayfair Hotel & Spa, features a laid-back rooftop bar scene with panoramic views of the pedestrian-friendly village and the calm waters of Biscayne Bay. Kick back by the fire pit and watch the sun sink into the horizon while you sip a fine glass of wine.

Miami Beach

For the ultimate fine-dining-meets-rooftop experience, head to Juvia on South Beach’s Lincoln Road. Situated atop the funky Herzog & de Meuron designed parking garage, the restaurant features sweeping views of Miami Beach. Sit at the bar and peruse an impressive cocktail list, but if you’re going to opt for a table, make sure you call ahead for reservations.

Arguably one of the best views on the beach, WATR at the 1 Rooftop features a Polynesian and Japanese-inspired menu of fresh seafood as well as fresh cocktails and sake. Situated at the top of 1 Hotel South Beach, the rooftop bar and lounge feels like it is floating away in the salty air.

For drop-dead gorgeous views of Ocean Drive and South Beach, C-LEVEL Rooftop Terrace on the sixth floor of The Clevelander doesn’t disappoint. The rooftop is only open to hotel guests during the day, but the bar opens to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, featuring DJs spinning high-energy beats, bottle service and the Clevelander’s infamous bikini-clad dancers.

At Dream South Beach, you’ll find Highbar at the Collins Avenue hotel’s rooftop. Designed to evoke a glam Studio 54 ambiance, the poolside bar features a daily happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and stays open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami's pool and restaurant, DECK Sixteen, is located on the third-floor deck. Guests can enjoy food, cocktails and bottle service. Stop by for their daily happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring $6 cocktails and bites.

For another posh poolside experience, check out La Cote, the oceanfront bi-level bar and restaurant at the iconic Fontainebleau hotel, where light Southern French fare and a DJ bar scene elevate poolside dining to a new level. Friday through Sunday there’s a DJ spinning tunes from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. to suit the fashionable crowds.

For an ultra-exclusive experience, Soho Beach House offers a rooftop bar and private cabanas for hotel guests or club members only.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. A long list of hotels in Miami Beach have a rooftop amenity of some kind, so be sure to call ahead and inquire. It’s truly the best way to experience the beach breeze, mix and mingle with the Sobe crowd and test out some eclectic cocktails.
