Miami is a health-conscious city. With a year-round swimsuit season and an eternal summer climate, residents take serious stock in looking and feeling good at all times. It’s an active town full of joggers along the beach, yoga devotees, and water sports enthusiasts. Sure, the South Beach Diet’s been around for over a decade, but what do citizens of the Magic City really fuel up on to stay in such great shape?

Fortunately, Miami has an abundance of healthy, organic, and natural restaurants to choose from with vegetarian and vegan options. Whether you’re a health food devotee or just want to sample the fare in the land of the beautiful people, here are some great picks around town for healthy eating options that happen to be delicious, too.

Miami Beach

Go Go Fresh Food Cafe is a hidden gem on Alton Road with a cult following of South Beach locals who lunch there. With a menu of big (really big) and mini (perfect portion) salads, as well as an extensive selection of homemade empanadas ranging from the traditional steak chimichurri to a more original spicy Thai chicken, you’ve got to go to Go Go! For those who have embraced the vegan and raw food movement, THRIVE on Alton Road is your destination. With an extensive smoothie menu and raw, vegan, organic entrees like cabbage tacos made with nut meat and spaghetti and nut balls made of spaghetti squash and sun-dried tomatoes, your vegan dietary and health needs will be met in spades at this thriving outpost.

When in Miami, sampling the Cuban cuisine is a must. Bernie’s Latin American Cafe on Miami Beach sets itself apart with an organic and natural menu boasting a lot of vegetarian options. Opt for tofu or grilled vegetable tacos, a vegetarian “chix” fajita wrap, or a grilled eggplant sandwich with roasted peppers and Monterrey jack cheese. It’s a healthy, natural take on Cuban and Latin American food.

With its original location on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Pasha’s restaurants can now be found all over the Greater Miami area from Aventura Mall to the University of Miami.
