Miami Spice Cocktail Recipe Giveaway

Cheers! We’re celebrating Miami Spice’s 15th anniversary with weekly summer themed cocktail recipes! Cocktails will be posted below every week. Create the cocktails or add your own unique twist, post a photo of your creation on Instagram or Twitter and include #MiamiSpiceCocktail tagging @MiamiandBeaches for your chance to win dinner for 10 at a participating Miami Spice restaurant. Featured Cocktail, Week #1: BLANCO MARGARITA

INGREDIENTS
  • 50ml Don Julio Blanco
  • 25ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 25ml Cointreau® OR Triple Sec Lime wedge
  • Salt

METHOD
  1. Fill a shaker with ice, add Don Julio Blanco, freshly squeezed lime juice, Cointreau® and mix well.
  2. Strain the ingredients into a small rocks glass with a salted rim. 
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge.

BARTENDER’S TIP
To add a salt rim, run a lime wedge around the edge of the glass and carefully roll it through a saucer of salt. If you’re not sure of your guests’ tastes, salt half of the rim and let them decide which side to sip from.

Featured Cocktail, Week #2: BULLEIT JULEP

INGREDIENTS
  • 50ml Bulleit Bourbon
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves

METHOD
  1. Lightly muddle the mint and sugar syrup in the bottom of a Julep glass.
  2. Add Bulleit Bourbon and crushed ice, then stir.
  3. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Mint is the ultimate summer garnish. For a full sensory experience, position your straw next to the mint in your drink to appreciate the fresh aromas with every sip.

Featured Cocktail, Week #3: DAIQUIRI

INGREDIENTS
  • 45ml Ron Zacapa 23
  • 20ml fresh lime juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup

METHOD
  1. Fill a shaker with ice, Ron Zacapa 23, fresh lime juice, sugar syrup and shake well.
  2. Strain the contents into a coupe glass
  3. Garnish with a lime twist.

BARTENDER’S TIP
To make your own sugar syrup, add 1 cup of water and 2 cups of caster sugar to a saucepan, head and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Leave to cool, then store in the refrigerator.

Featured Cocktail, Week #4: KETEL ONE DUTCH MULE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
  • 300ml Ketel One Vodka
  • 600ml ginger beer
  • 90ml fresh lime juice
  • 10 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Lime wedges

METHOD
  1. Mix all of the ingredients in a jug full of ice.
  2. Add 10 dashes of Angostura bitters.
  3. Pour into highball glasses fitted with ice and garnish with lime wedges.

Make sure you use a premium mixer for this cocktail – you can’t beat a good brand of fiery Jamaican ginger beer.

Featured Cocktail, Week #5: LA PRIMAVERA

INGREDIENTS (based on 6 serves)
  • 300ml Don Julio Blanco
  • 180ml cloudy apple juice
  • 180ml cucumber juice
  • 120ml freshly squeezed lime
  • 90ml elderflower cordial
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Handful of mint leaves

METHOD
  1. Dress a jug full of ice with sliced cucumber and mint leaves.
  2. Mix in all the ingredients and stir.
  3. Pour into tumblers full of fresh ice and garnish with cucumber slice and mint sprig.

To ensure the correct consistency, always use a juicer to make your cucumber juice rather than a blender.

Featured Cocktail, Week #6: BULLEIT LEMON AND TONIC

INGREDIENTS
  • 50ml Bulleit Bourbon
  • 100ml tonic water
  • 2 lemon wedges

METHOD
  1. Fill a Collins glass with ice and coat the rim with the juice of a lemon wedge.
  2. Mix Bulleit Bourbon and tonic water.
  3. Garnish with the other lemon wedge.

Poor quality mixers never do drinks full justice, so always try to use a premium tonic with luxury spirits.

Featured Cocktail, Week #7: ZACAPA ZACOCO

INGREDIENTS
  • 50ml Ron Zacapa 23
  • 100ml coconut water
  • 2 pineapple leaves
  • Lime wedge

METHOD
  1. Fill a Collins glass with ice.
  2. Mix the Ron Zacapa 23 with the coconut water.
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge and two pineapple leaves..

BARTENDER’S TIP
If you really want to impress, try serving Zacoco in fresh, whole coconuts. Chill the coconuts first, then make a small hole in each to add the rum. Give them a shake, add a straw and serve.

Featured Cocktail, Week #8: Ketel One Soda Recipe

INGREDIENTS
  • 50ml Ketel One Vodka
  • 100ml tonic water
  • Orange wedge

METHOD
  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Mix Ketel One and tonic water.
  3. Garnish with an orange wedge.

BARTENDER’S TIP
Ice is fundamental when making long drinks. Always fill the glass to the top – it keeps the drink colder for longer and minimizes dilution.
