Whether you’re a beginner or a longtime devotee, don’t miss out on getting Zen in Miami.

Miami’s yoga community has grown and deepened over the years and finding a place to practice is a cinch. Yoga’s benefits include improved strength, flexibility, balance and peace of mind. Whether it’s a local studio, a resort spa, the beach, or a park, opportunities in various yoga styles abound.

Free Yoga

Bayfront Park hosts free Miami yoga classes every Monday and Wednesday evening, and Saturday morning at the Tina Hills Pavilion overlooking Biscayne Bay.

The One Yoga Foundation offers a variety of free Miami yoga classes at six different parks across the city, including Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove, Margaret Pace Park in Downtown Miami, and South Pointe Park in South Beach.

Start or end your day on the beach with a free yoga class courtesy of Third Street Beach Yoga at the lifeguard stand at 3rd street off Ocean Drive. Classes are offered daily at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Be sure to bring a towel. If you’re in Miami Beach during a full moon, check out their full moon meditation, which draws an eclectic mix of local yogis and international visitors.

Miami Beach

Green Monkey is one of the top studios in town with locations in South Beach and Coral Gables. Their strength is Power Yoga and Vinyasa Flow with inspiring teachers and a true community feeling. Certain instructors (Paul Toliuszis) have a cult-like following with classes brimming to capacity. Many of their teachers are responsible for community programs with free yoga classes popping up all over the city. They also host Miami yoga workshops and teacher trainings.

For Ashtanga devotees, Miami Life Center is a Mecca for Miami Beach yoga. Founder Kino MacGregor is something of a superstar in the Ashtanga world with various accolades including Yoga Journal’s Top 21 Teachers Under 40 list. MacGregor, along with most of her staff, studied in India underneath Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of the Ashtanga practice. In addition to Miami Beach yoga classes, Miami Life Center also coordinates retreats to far-flung locales, such as India and Thailand.

Synergy, with its original location on historic Espanola Way, is Miami Beach’s oldest yoga studio. Today, it’s found on Alton Road with classes in a wide variety of styles, including superb offerings in restorative forms of Kundalini and gentle flow.

The Standard Spa Miami Beach is a hip destination offering a dynamic daily yoga schedule, as well as workshops on all aspects of health and wellness. The picturesque location on Belle Isle off the Venetian Causeway in the middle of Biscayne Bay screams retreat. With a picturesque pool and healthy restaurant overlooking the bay, as well as a popular spa, it’s an enviable destination for locals and visitors, alike. For a different kind of Friday night, opt for the weekly H2Om class at 8 p.m. with a rotating roster of guest teachers, as well as live music, and access to their hamamm and spa, post-class.

Come Nurture with Nature! Azul Holistic Spa encourages you to conclude your day with a relaxing sunset beach yoga class. Join us on the beach as you realign your body and mind. Yoga clases are held by SuperYogi Silvia Romero every Wednesday at 6:30 pm by the beach at 67th Miami Beach. Donations are kindly accepted. Your backdrop will be the gentle rolling waves, fresh air and sea life. Set your intention or take your practice farther in our tranquil beach setting. Just bring a Yoga mat or a large beach towel to place on the sand, comfortable clothes and an open spirit. We look forward to seeing you on the Beach!!

Downtown Miami

If you’re traveling for business, or happen to find yourself in Downtown Miami, do as the Brickell post-work yogis do, and head to Skanda Yoga Studio. Ken von Roenn III is a popular instructor who has created a breath-inspired, alignment-based power vinyasa style that incorporates elements of the Mayan calendar. Skanda offers mixed-level classes with a loyal following of multi-level yogis drawn to the practice’s challenging arm balances and inversions. Skanda also features Kundalini yoga classes by Ganesha.

For yoga in the clouds, head to the EPIC Hotel on the Miami River and take the elevator to the 16th floor. Here, you’ll find Exhale Spa offering a wide range of results-oriented yoga and Core Fusion classes in posh digs. Indulge in a spa treatment, and make the day of it by relaxing at the pool. Additionally, Exhale has locations at the Loews Hotel in South Beach and at The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour.

Wynwood

Trio Yoga located in the heart of Wynwood takes a light-hearted approach to practice, catering to the young, creative professionals in the neighborhood. With classes ranging from Lunch Hour Yoga to Candle Light Yoga, they have a way of fitting seamlessly into your schedule. It’s also home to AcroYoga, a partner-based acrobatic yoga taught by Arianne Traverso, and Aerial Yoga using straps hanging from the wall for supported inversions and deep relaxation.

For a full mind and body experience, head to the Love Life Wellness Center in Wynwood. The center includes two yoga studios, a juce bar, library, health counseling classes, massage therapy and a retail store. They even offer "doga" which is a popular yoga class for you and your dog.

Coconut Grove

For yoga in the Grove, head to Dharma Yoga Studio offering a wide selection of yoga styles, including the heart-oriented Anusara practice. The beautiful studio makes you feel more like you’re practicing in a friend’s living room than at a traditional studio. They also offer teacher trainings and pre- and postnatal classes.

Key Biscayne

Want a true test of your strength and balance while convening with nature? Try practicing yoga on a standup paddleboard with SUP Yoga at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne.

Yoga Apparel

Swing by Lululemon on Lincoln Road where many of its svelte shop girls double as yoga teachers around town. It’s a good place to swing by for advice on which local class is best for you with a bulletin board covered in class schedules and free passes.

If you want to take a piece of Miami yoga apparel home, look for local brand Yogiiza sold throughout town. This organic apparel line created by ygis Mark and Dawn Oliver utilizes soft, breathable cotton. Think, comfy sports bras, yoga pants, tops and shorts in stylish designs and natural colors.

With fitness and adventure at the very core of Miami, it’s no wonder there’s a wealth of yoga options throughout the city. Sample a class, try something new or create your own custom retreat with our world-class offerings.
