Beyond the sun, sand and surf, Miami offers more fun attractions than you could fit into just one vacation. Swim with the dolphins, ride an airboat through the Everglades or stroll through a historic mansion. From historic to adventuresome, natural to man-made, Miami has something for everyone.
While you should definitely schedule a day or two to hang out at the beach, make sure you also plan ahead to check out our many family-friendly attractions. For example, head down to the Everglades and visit a real working alligator farm where 2,000 alligators of all sizes live in natural settings at Everglades Alligator Farm.
Or get ready for the ride of your life as you bob and weave through the Everglades on an air boat ride courtesy of the Miccosukee Indian Village. Then discover more about the Miccosukee’s vibrant culture by observing the Tribe engage in the art of beadwork and basket weaving.
Visit the Miami Seaquarium, the original home of Flipper the dolphin. You can watch Flipper's dolphin show, as well as seven other animal shows and presentations. From the Shark Reef Encounter to the Dolphin Experience, there's plenty of ways to get wet and experience these marine animals up close and personal.
Maybe you’re thinking something more like a tour of a mansion with more than two thousand years of lifestyle artifacts? Built by James Deering in 1916, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Coconut Grove features a sprawling, lushly landscaped garden and a historic mansion situated on Biscayne Bay. The property is open to the public and has been the backdrop to many film and photo shoots.
Kids and parents, animal lovers and educators can’t resist the charm of a day at Zoo Miami. Flamingos, komodo dragons, meerkats, monkeys, rhinos of all kinds, lions, tigers and bears – oh my! – are all on exhibit at this world-class zoo.
Take the family to Jungle Island where you'll discover some of the rarest animals in the kingdom. From ligers and lemurs to orangutans and reptiles, this is your chance to get up close and personal with the wild things. Roam the jungle freely, or experience a VIP Safari Tour.
Located in southern Miami-Dady County, Monkey Jungle is a 30-acre reserve where nearly 400 primates run and rove at their leisure. The attraction is part of a world-wide effort to save monkeys that are close to extinction and to protect them within comfortable and familiar environments.
Those are just some ideas—the very tip of the iceberg of the many attractions that you can visit during your Miami vacation. For an added perk, visit in October and take advantage of Miami Attractions Month.
