Sip on a cold one at one of these Miami pubs.
While Miami is mostly known for its larger-than-life cocktails, party-all-night mantra, and hot food and drink scene, its burgeoning collection of breweries has recently given it a handcrafted beer culture, as well. And from Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, to Wynwood, South Beach and beyond, local breweries are bringing Florida’s popular craft beer scene to its most southern tip.
So next time you’re craving a pint of something delicious, try one of these Miami-based breweries for a handcrafted ale that’s sure to cure any long workday.
Abbey Brewing Co. on Miami Beach
Going to South Beach, but want nothing to do with the clubs? Head to Abbey Brewing Co. This popular dive-bar-meets-brewery for rare European imports and homemade beers by BrewMaster Raymond Rigazio. With its true Miami Beach locals, hole-in-the-wall vibes and iconic dartboard, Miami’s oldest brew pub promises patrons two things: a nice cold brew, and a low-key day on crazy South Beach. 1115 16th Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
Lou’s Beer Garden in North Miami Beach
This hipster hideaway has around two dozen microbrew bottles and drafts at any time. Go to Lou's Beer Garden any day of the week, and choose from Dogfish Head Brewing Co's Raison D’Etre, Stone Brewing Co's Double Bastard, Rogue Ales Brewery’s Dead Guy Ale, Left Hand Brewing Co's Left Hand Milk Stout and more, to name a few. 7337 Harding Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33141.
Wynwood Brewing Company
Located in Wynwood, this local spot is Miami’s first craft beer brewery, prides itself on being family owned-and-operated, and comes with its own tap room. Driven by its mission to bring creative beers to South Florida locals, Wynwood Brewing Company boasts a 15-barrel brew house and popular beers, like Blonde Ale, India Pale Ale, Gold Medal-winning Robust Porter, barrel-aged Strong Ales and other seasonal brews. 565 NW 24th Street, Miami, FL 33127.
J Wakefield Brewing in Wynwood
If you’ve every heard of “that Star Wars bar in Miami,” J Wakefield is the place. This Wynwood spot boasts Florida Weisse-style beers made with local exotic fruits, teas, spirits and spices, and in its neighborhood’s true fashion, has graffiti-covered walls with murals of Star Wars characters. 120 NW 24th Street, Miami, FL 33127.
The Mighty in Coral Gables
Sitting on Coral Way, outside the confines of Coral Gables, The Mighty is a dive bar with a wall filled with 59 bottles of Lambics, Saisons, IPAs, Imperial Stouts and more. Take one down, and the collection changes – so check the locale’s social media pages regularly; when new brews pop up, it’s the first place the owners go to keep their patrons in the loop. 2224 SW 22nd Street, Miami, FL 33145.
The Local Craft Food & Drink in Coral Gables
Tucked behind Miracle Mile, The Local is a neighborhood spot known for its gastropub-style food, craft beer, 18 brews on tap at all times, and over 20 rotating bottles. Celebrating what it does best, this spot hosts a monthly “Roast and Toast” beer-and-brunch pairing, and adds special release brews to the menu at random. 150 Giralda Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134.
