Avra Jain’s picks on what to do and where to stay in Miami’s MiMo district.

Avra Jain is the dynamic developer who lovingly restored Vagabond Motel (now Hotel) to its mid-century modern glory, signaling a new age for the MiMo Biscayne Boulevard Historic District. She’s working on bringing back a half-dozen other faded MiMo gems along the iconic stretch of Biscayne Boulevard between 50th and 79th streets, but she took time out of her busy life to share her idea of an ideal weekend in this emerging, hip neighborhood.

Friday

Vagabond Hotel

7 p.m.: After checking into the Vagabond Hotel, 7301 Biscayne Blvd., head to dinner and cocktails in the lobby at the Vagabond Restaurant. There are so many things to love on the menu, from foie gras to cheeseburgers.

9 p.m.: Venture to the edge of the MiMo District to Magnum, 709 NE 79th St., to enjoy a rockin’ piano bar set in this Old School NYC Village-style experience; open until 3 a.m.

Saturday

Blue Collar

11 a.m.: After a late night at Magnum, lemon ricotta pancakes with fresh blueberries at Blue Collar, 6730 Biscayne Blvd., should hit the spot.

12:30 p.m.: On the stroll back, stop by Flavorish Market, 7283 Biscayne Blvd., to forage for gourmet treats and gifts before lounging poolside at the Vagabond, sipping rose with the Mermaid (the mosaic mermaid at the bottom of the hotel pool that is a reproduction of the 1950s original).

1:30 p.m. Alex’s pork sandwich (Vagabond Restaurant’s Executive Chef Alex Chang, one of Miami’s rising-star chefs) is a must have for lunch.

3 p.m.: Back to the book poolside or grab a Car2Go to the Design District and Wynwood Art District for shopping and viewing.

7 p.m.: Dinner at NiDo Caffe, 7295 Biscayne Blvd., or Via Verdi Cucina Rustica, 6900 Biscayne Blvd., for Italian, or Mina’s Mediterraneo, 749 NE 79th St., for Mediterranean.

9 p.m.: Live music at the Vagabond for a nightcap and bed.

Sunday

305 Yoga

9 a.m.: Venture across the street for a class at 305 Yoga, 7300 Biscayne Blvd.

11:30 a.m.: Brunch at Vagabond (porcini scrambled eggs hit the spot).

1 p.m.: Walk it off and duck into Fly Boutique, 7235 Biscayne Blvd. (a fab consignment shop with vintage designer clothing, accessories and furniture).

2 p.m.: Squeeze in a visit to Little Haiti Cultural Center and Caribbean Market Place, 212-260 NE 59 Terrace.

4 p.m.: Back to Vagabond for relaxing, fresh sangria and live jazz before a late departure.
