Keep it Cool in South Beach’s Drinkhouse Fire & Ice

After a long day of sun and sand, you may be craving a little chill in the air. Head over to Collins Avenue between Lincoln Road and 17th street where hot meets cold in a blend of intense interaction that only Miami can provide at South Beach's only ice bar and fire lounge.

Drinkhouse Fire & Ice

Drinkhouse Fire & Ice has an unassuming window front looking into the Experimental Cocktail Fire Lounge. With smoky lighting and shimmering crystals positioned around the room, you can’t help but feel the heat of what’s to come. Backlight pictures are scattered throughout the main room that change colors from fire reds through soothing greens and grays, and set a sensual and intoxicating mood for the rest of your night.

This is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs Sally Drinkhouse and Nicole Pritchett. A new Miami experience, far beyond the South Beach norm, this spot blends both the heat of Miami’s days with the chill of northern nights. The 23-degree ice palace is definitely one-of-a-kind in South Beach as is the Fire Lounge, serving cocktails like the Glacier Water and Soul Burner.

Open six days a week, Wednesday through Monday starting at 8 p.m., you can find Miami’s most novel music and entertainment. If you plan on coming on a weekend to the ice bar, you might want to make a reservation, as it can book up fast.

Fire Lounge

The Fire Lounge is Drinkhouse’s main room and where you begin your night’s journey. Ask for one of their popular craft cocktails and feel your insides start to warm. A little further back in the room, there’s a DJ booth to get you on your feet and soft velvet seats to sink into - that is until you feel the call of the Ice Bar.

Feel free to leave the drama at the door. The Fire Lounge is furnished with tables made of selenite, translucent crystal they say encourages mental clarity and removes negativity. You won’t be feeling any bad juju here, with free nightly music and entertainment like EDM personality Lady Casa and the monthly comedy night. Reservations are not required for the Fire Lounge and you are welcome to enjoy the entertainment free of charge. The craft drinks, however, you will be more than happy to pay for.

Ice Bar

When you first walk in to the main room of the club, you are faced with a line of bright white faux fur coats and boots that are meant for the ice bar. They also have some large, vibrantly colored coats tucked to the side. Go for those and stand out from the crowd.

Then it’s time to select your package. Drinkhouse offers multiple specials for the Ice Bar including entrance and cocktails. The Ice Bar Experience can typically last 30-45 minutes in 23-degrees, so make sure you get bundled up with coats, hats and gloves the house offers before entering. If you have heels on, they’ll give you warmer faux fur booties to wear in their place, as heels are not allowed in the Ice Bar. Your feet will thank you for the respite on plush flats.

Once you enter their chilly winter wonderland constructed from 100,000 pounds of pure glacial ice, you will find yourself in a room covered in ice sculptures and even a bar carved completely from ice. Enjoy your favorite drinks served in hand-crafted glass made entirely from ice while you explore the very Instagrammable ice art throughout the room.
