For the finale of The Wolfsonian's 4 part haunted house film series, the museum presents a screening of Candyman(2021) at O Cinema on Sunday, August 14. Combining cheap thrills with biting social commentary, the 2021 remake of Candyman tackles connections between art, race and gentrification with its  tale of vengeful spirits wreaking havoc in a condemned Chicago public housing project. Stick around after the film for a discussion led by filmmaker Faren Humes, regarding Candyman's take on the displacement of communities in American cities.

Presented in partnership with O Cinema South Beach and Popcorn Frights Film Festival as part of The Wolfsonian's Mark Mamolen program on American homes, the film series explores how the design of living space powerfully expresses individual personality and social values.
