Catch an indie documentary from the comfort of your home with South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center’s virtual curated film series, Indie Flicks. The series, presented by SMDCAC and the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers features a monthly screening of a newly released independent documentary film, followed by a conversation with the filmmaker.

November’s featured documentary is Duty Free, a directorial debut by Sian-Pierre Regis that tells the story of the director’s 75-year-old mother, Rebecca Danigelis, getting fired by her employer of several decades and left with only two weeks pay. To help his mother reclaim her life, Regis takes her on a bucket-list adventure. Through their journey, the film provides insight into the many ways economic insecurity plagues an older generation of workers.
