ARTSLAUNCH2019 kicks off the Greater Miami cultural arts season with a huge open house for the entire community. On Saturday, September 7, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County opens its doors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a day full of free performances, cultural excursions, interactive workshops, chef demos, dance classes, activities for children, a farmer’s market, backstage tours and so much more!

With more than nine hours of activity, there is definitely something for everyone. The day begins at 10 a.m. with an Arts Talk featuring Ben Cameron who is one the nation’s leading voices on the live performing arts. His talk will convene local leaders for a thoughtful conversation on Miami’s state of the arts.

The ever-popular Miami Downtown Development Authority Community Arts Village opens at 11 a.m. This indoor street fair brings more than 100 cultural organizations to the Ziff Ballet Opera House stage to showcase their upcoming seasons. It’s a great opportunity to meet the artists first-hand and begin planning to attend their next performance.

New this year are mini-performances held in the Knight Concert Hall’s Peacock Education Center. These intimate 30-minute presentations will highlight a wide variety of styles: Miami Symphony Orchestra, Spoken Soul Festival, Siempre Flamenco, Peter London Global Dance Company, Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation and Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.

Also not to be missed – Big Bus Miami Cultural Excursions! Starting at noon, guests will have the chance to venture out to Overtown and Little Haiti by way of hop-on and hop-off bus tours. This is the perfect way to sightsee and snap photos of locally famous attractions and must-see landmarks – all on the comfort of Big Bus Miami’s double-decker fleet.

Families will enjoy taking the kids to the Youth Fair Showcase that offers fun activities and performances. New this year is the Quiet Room which provides families a safe space away from the crowds to calm down in a sensory controlled quiet space. Miami Book Fair’s Read to Learn for Free will be collecting gently used children’s books that will stock reading rooms around our community – so please encourage the kids to pass along their old favorites to other young readers.

ARTSLAUNCH2019 is an incredible day for visitors and locals alike to learn about Miami’s upcoming season of the arts. Whether it’s sampling at Chef Demonstrations, taking a backstage tour or joining for The New Tropic Happy Hour on the Plaza – the Arsht Center has pulled out all the stops to kick of another exciting arts and culture season!
