The 23rd annual Brazilian Film Festival of Miami (BRAFF) returns September 14-21, 2019 for a week of groundbreaking film screenings, garden parties, and industry insiders. Founded by Adriana L. Dutra, Cláudia Dutra and Viviane B. Spinelli, BRAFF is the pioneer film festival exclusively dedicated to Brazilian films in the United States. The festival is produced with the support of Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the City of Miami Beach Cultural Affairs Council, American Airlines, E! Entertainment TV and the General Consulate of Brazil in Miami.

The festival kicks off the evening of September 14 at the Regal South Beach with a party featuring a fashion show with a live DJ, followed by a film screening. The festival consists of a variety of screening series, including the Panorama Screenings, which will take place from September 15 to 17 at the Silverspot Cinema Downtown Miami. Florida International University will host the University Screenings Series on September 19. Finally, the Competitive Screenings Series will be held at the Regal South Beach 18 September 18 through 21 as new Brazilian films compete for the Crystal Lens Award for Best Film.

Closing award night will be at the Colony Theatre. Closing Award Night at Colony Theatre The Closing Award Ceremony will include the presentation of the Crystal Lenses awards for the best films chosen by the public and jury. The Festival will also honor actress Dira Paes with the Lifetime Achievement Award in celebration of her successful career.

In addition to its Miami festival, BRAFF is also held in Canudos, Brazil and New York City. In Miami, the festival also showcases opportunities for industry training, reflection, promotion, cultural exchange, diversity, political, intersectional and artistic expression. It promises to be a lively, inspiring and enlightening week.
