From celebrity chefs to mouthwatering parties, here’s your guide to The South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF).

  • Take several dozen of your favorite celebrity chefs and culinary personalities, such as a Bobby Flay, Andrew Zimmern, or Guy Fieri.
  • Add twice the amount of impressive wine, craft beer and artisanal liquor makers into the shaker
  • Toss libations with your foodie batter to mix thoroughly and garnish with farm-to-table style cooking events and demonstrations.
  • Sprinkle a dash of South Beach sun and fun.
  • Serve to thousands of guests annually on the last weekend of February.

Follow these simple instructions from these select ingredients and what you’ve got is the 17th Annual South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SOBEWFF) descending on the sands of South Beach February 21-25, 2018.

Concocted by Lee Brian Schrager, festival founder and director, who also serves as the vice president of corporate communications & national events for Southern Wine & Spirits, SOBEWFF is one of the most highly anticipated events among Miami’s locals and visitors. The festival has established itself as a favorite among the renown chefs and other industry professionals who lead demonstrations and seminars.

The festivities include demonstrations, tastings, parties, seminars, tribute meals with famed chefs and more. It’s raised more than $24 million for the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University.

Classic Events & Parties

Part of SOBEWFF’s appeal, for both presenters and partygoers, is location, location, location. Many of the events, including the Grand Tasting Village, take place directly on the beach. As in, the enormous tents housing hundreds of chefs and winemakers are literally pitched on the sand. For winter-weary folks, the gentle waves and sea breezes season the bites and quaffs irresistibly.

Some of the most sought after parties on the beach include Thursday night’s Italian Bites on the Beach hosted by De Laurentis, Burger Bash hosted by Fieri, Walshy Fire’s Rum & Bass Beach Party and a Beachside BBQ hosted by Michael Symon.

Other gatherings take place at some of Miami Beach’s swankiest oceanfront hotels, including Best of the Best at the historic Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Chicken Coupe hosted by Chef Andrew Carmellini at W South Beach and Southern Kitchen Brunch hosted by Trisha Yearwood at Loews Miami Beach.

What’s New

Some of the newer events sure to tempt your taste buds include Marcus Samuelsson’s Harlem to Overtown Jazz Brunch at the Black Archives Lyric Theater, Late Night Desserts & Dancing hosted by father-daughter duo Bobby and Sophie Flay with sounds by DJ-socialite Hannah Bronfman at Loews Miami Beach and Midnight Munchies: An Espanola Way Party hosted by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Action Bronson.

There are also new Master Classes for both health nuts and those with a sweet tooth. Plant Miami will host a plant-based master class in all things vegan haute cuisine, while Miami’s very own Salty Donuts will give guests an inside peak into artisanal donut making. SOBEWFF promises to be a delicious weekend no matter what you’re craving, from tastings to dinners to parties. Start planning your culinary weekend in Miami now.
