Hialeah, is nicknamed the “City of Progress,” making it a fitting host for one of the state’s newest Pride events. This Miami city is a newcomer to the many others hosting longtime Pride events, and Hialeah has wasted no time in creating an epic new tradition celebrating tolerance, love, and unity. Founded by Karen Larrea and Madeline Fernandez, the Hialeah Pride celebration became the city’s first-ever Pride Festival in 2018, inspired by the founders’ dream of creating a safe, welcome space for the LGBTQ+ community in Hialeah.

Plan Your Hialeah Pride Experience

With its inaugural 2018 event declared a smashing success, Hialeah Pride is generating plenty of buzz in 2019. Hialeah Pride 2019 is slated to be one of the biggest events of the year, expected to draw thousands of locals and visitors to Hialeah Park on Sunday, October 13th.

Last year’s entertainment lineup was impressively diverse, featuring such names as David Hernandez, DJ AJ Reddy, The Elite Drag Kings, Veronica Vega, and more. This year, the performers are equally unique and exciting. Festival goers will recognize both local and national acts and have the opportunity to discover up and coming talents taking the LGBTQ+ scene by storm.

One of the most anticipated celebrities appearing at Hialeah Pride will be Jamie Wilson, LGBTQI+ influencer, musician, model, and actor. Wilson first emerged as a passionate voice in the LGBTQI+ community when he documented his female to male transition on the global social media stage, earning attention from numerous celebrities, publications, and advocacy organizations. VIP guests at Hialeah Pride will have the opportunity to hear from Wilson in person at an exclusive meet and greet event, where he’ll share his story and spend time with fans.

Performers such as Nohemy, Angel Emilio, Musicat, and Day-Ja La Dama will be just some of the well-known entertainers taking the Hialeah Pride stage, in addition to event headliner Julio Iglesias, Jr. 2019 Hialeah Pride Padrino Desmond Child will be honored on the mainstage, and event goers will enjoy additional performances from beloved artists such as Vanessa Monroe, Tp Lords, and Chicky Lulu.

When you’re heading to Hialeah Pride, be sure to show up with your appetite in tow because the festival food court will be welcoming many of Miami’s best food trucks and vendors. Favorites like Peruvian Bites, Daddy’s Grill, Latin Fixin’s, and Churromania will be serving up delicious food options with a distinctly Latin flair, offering plenty of tempting options to enjoy all day. Once you’ve satisfied your hunger for authentic Latin cuisine, explore the event’s numerous vendor booths to find one-of-a-kind fares to remember your festival experience.

While event goers are eagerly looking forward to enjoying the exceptional entertainment, food, and shopping that Hialeah Pride will have to offer, the festival is going one step further in its commitment to giving back to the community. Health, wellness, and self-care will be an important part of the event at the festival Health Zone, offering guests the opportunity to take advantage of services such as HIV testing and resources from the Fertility and IVF Center of Miami. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hialeah Pride will also provide free mammograms to interested attendees.

Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth in Hialeah

Not only does the Hialeah Pride event seek to promote tolerance and inclusivity, but it also serves a larger mission in the community through charitable donations. A portion of proceeds will be used to fund college scholarships for LGBTQ+ students in Hialeah, enabling them to pursue ongoing education and the ability to achieve their dreams. The event founders wanted Hialeah Pride to be more than just a community-wide celebration, and their mission to empower the local LGBTQ+ community inspired the event-sponsored scholarships.
