Festivals are a much anticipated way to indulge in the Miami culture and when you add top recording artists like Estelle, Ginuwine, Musiq Soulchild, and Latin Jazz & Afro Caribbean Rhythms artist Tito Puente Jr., you have discovered one of the Summer’s hottest events in Miami, the Overtown Music and Arts Festival (OMAF). This festival is one not to miss and last year it attracted an audience of close to 10,000. The OMAF is a perfect fit with something for festival goers of any age and is great for the entire family to enjoy ... plus it's free. Also taking to the concert stage will be Jon B., Vivian Green, and Michael Sterling.

Created in 1999 by the Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, the street festival has grown to become an annual event that is adored by local Miamians as well as visitors. The Overtown Music and Arts Festival was originated to expose the unique offerings of the Overtown community. It is touted to not only bring back music and arts to the Historic Overtown neighborhood, but also to promote economic development and community enrichment. Overtown is one of Miami’s earliest historical black communities, once prominently known for black businesses and a national entertainment destination.

The festival returns to Overtown on July 14, 2018 and will feature components like music, entertainment, art exhibitions, food and more! T.E.E.S. (Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success) Youth Zone will be back with live performances by AYO &TEO and The Tainerz, arts and crafts, face painting, bounce houses, karaoke, fun fitness activities, and even an Aldi's "What's Cooking" zone. As well, many Overtown businesses and vendors will be showcasing artwork, ethnic cuisine, and unique crafts. Some new food trucks will also be joining the festival, like Reggae Beets Gourmet Food Truck and the Snow Caps Truck.

New to the festival last year and returning again this year is the crowd favorite BBQ Cook-off Competition. And this year, for the first time ever, you'll be able to score some "official" festival swag!

Insider Tip: For a comfortable and fun day, some essential items you should not forget to bring along are bottled water, sun block, a portable phone charger, hand sanitizer, an umbrella and a backpack.
