On February 21st, Unity Boulevard Film Series Presents Faat Kiné, directed and produced by the late Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembene. This film is about the life of a confident, independent businesswoman and her life as she tries to make it on her own in a patriarchal society in West Africa. Following the film, Dr. Janewa Osei-Tutu will lead a discussion. Dr. Osei-Tutu is Associate Professor of Law and affiliated faculty in the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies and the African and African Diaspora Studies Program at Florida International University.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Historic Hampton House Cultural Center. Purchase your tickets in advance online for $5 or pay $10 at the door. Students with ID enter for free. Free parking is available on 43 Terrace, behind the building. The Historic Hampton House Cultural Center is located at 4240 NW 27th Avenue, Miami, FL., 33142.
