So, whether you’re enjoying deep discounts during Miami Hotel Months, dancing and making friends at Wynwood Pride, or enjoying a summer concert series, June in Miami has plenty to offer. June 1 - 30

The summer season brings us Miami Hotel Months, when big-time savings can be found at local hotels ranging from well-known hotel brands to boutique hotels and luxury resorts. Hot properties such as the Beacon Hotel South Beach, AC Hotel Miami Wynwood, the Clevelander and InterContinental Miami will offer rates far lower than usual, giving locals a chance for a relaxing staycation and savvy visitors some serious savings.

Solve Crimes Like Sherlock Holmes at The Frost Science Museum

June 1 – September 5

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science welcomes Sherlock Holmes: The Exhibition, running through September 5. The traveling exhibit begins with a look at the forensic science that came to the forefront during the late 19th century, including ballistics, telegraphs, maps and photography. Once guests have learned the science, they’re released to review a crime scene to try and solve a curious case involving a visiting American newspaperman and his missing family. The interactive sleuthing takes both wits and deduction – and adds an ending plot twist few will figure out.

Discover a Blues Opera

June 2 – 26

Miami Motel Stories – a short-form showcase for local performers and storytellers – returns after a two-year hiatus with Eric Garcia’s Blues Opera. The one-man show takes place Thursday through Sunday nights at a “secret” duplex in Little Havana, where 10 guests will enjoy an intimate evening with the man they call “Uncle Scotchy.” He’ll lead them in drinking games, perform some songs, and tell true-to-life stories.

A Summer Concert Series Featuring World-Class Musicians

June 9 and 23

The Community Arts Program brings its summer concert series back to the Coral Gables Congregational Church every other Thursday through August 18, beginning June 9 with clarinetist Ken Peplowski’s tribute to jazz great Benny Goodman. The series continues on June 23, when Joseph Joachim International Violin Prize Competition winner Timothy Chooi takes the stage with live piano accompaniment.

Show Your Pride in Wynwood

June 10-12

June is Pride Month across the country, and Miami will be celebrating at the RC Cola Plant during Wynwood Pride. Friday and Saturday offer two days of outrageous performances, live DJs, drag shows and the fan-favorite, Miss Toto’s Funhouse. On Sunday, the fun spills out into the streets of Wynwood, where a neighborhood takeover full of art installations, free events, drag brunches and dance parties runs all day.

June 15-19

The American Black Film Festival isn’t just a showcase for Black filmmakers and artists, where the likes of Kevin Hart, Halle Berry and Issa Rae screen their latest projects. In addition to seeing cutting-edge films, attendees can also hear roundtable discussions, catch behind-the-scenes looks at TV and film production, and attend festival awards presentations at various venues in Miami Beach.

June 16

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts hosts its inaugural Juneteenth Juke Joint, a tribute to the art, music and food of Black Americans in the South. The fun starts at 7 p.m. on June 16 with a happy hour menu of Juneteenth-inspired foods and craft cocktails. Guests will then be treated to a special set of pan-African beats from DJ Nickymix and an R&B performance from native Miamian LaVie.

June 18

The glory days of hair rock are back in a big way when Mötley Crüe headlines a stellar lineup of ’80s superstars at Hard Rock Stadium starting at 4:30 p.m. Other classic favorites on the bill include Poison (“Every Rose has its Thorn”), Def Leppard (“Pour some Sugar on Me”) and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (“I love Rock and Roll'').

Take Dad on a Fishing Cruise around Biscayne Bay

Father’s Day lands on the third Sunday of the month, and while there’ll be no shortage of spots offering special brunches, this just might be the year to try something different and take him fishing. The Deering Estate will run a three-hour catch-and-release fishing cruise starting at 1 p.m., where onboard naturalists will also talk about the birds and marine mammals you’ll see along the way.

Miami’s agricultural bread basket in South Dade showcases its finest creations at the Summer Fruit Festival. This day-long gathering of local farmers at the Fruit & Spice Park will offer visitors the chance to sample rare tropical fruits, as well as learn how to cultivate and grow fruit themselves during educational workshops. For something even sweeter, hit one of the specialty tents devoted to fresh smoothies and chocolate-covered fruits.
