POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President for Development will design, lead and manage a newly created focus on Development in conjunction with a recently approved comprehensive campaign. This will include membership (donor communications and stewardship); major gifts (annual major gifts, legacy/planned giving, capital and other restricted funds given by individuals); annual giving (unrestricted annual support); foundation, corporate, and other institutional grants (including governmental) and fundraising events.

This position will be responsible for establishing the goals and structure for a new ambitious focus on Development. The Vice President for Development will participate in institution-wide strategic planning and board relations. The Vice President will develop and implement a campaign and annual fundraising plan to raise $5+ million from contributed sources for annual operating as well as special gifts for endowment and capital needs — to meet the demands of a growing organization.

The Vice President for Development will manage the process of discovery, research, and identification of major donors, as well as annual fund pipelines and lead the development and execution of all actions to cultivate, solicit, recognize, and renew these donors, both individual and foundation.

The successful candidate will have a presence, vision, and innovative spirit that can help make new opportunities possible, as well as the experience needed to build upon the strategic plan and establish the groundwork to be successful in The Campaign for Oolite Arts. A knowledge of and experience with the South Florida arts community is important.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to the established policies and procedures of Oolite Arts
Design and implement an Annual Fundraising Plan
Develop and implement a Campaign Plan
Supervise and provide guidance to development staff
Develop metrics to achieve short-term and long-term fundraising goals
Identify major gift prospects
Strategize and implement major gift initiatives
Solicit individually or as a member of a team
Oversee donor stewardship and communications
Interface with Trustees and serving as the primary liaison for the Development Committee to ensure the successful involvement of volunteers in the fundraising process
Implement policies and procedures to ensure accuracy of recording and reporting of Donations
Serve as Liaison to the Development Committee and Board
Document all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in CRM database
Manage data resources including providing data and metric analysis
Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
A proven track record of successful major gift solicitation
Experience with Campaigns
Experience managing teams
Strong critical thinking and technical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to juggle numerous projects with attention to both process and people
Collaborative demeanor
Must have a donor focus and a commitment to excellence
Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills required
Ability to work evenings, holidays and weekends as scheduled
Excellence in English language (oral and written) required; preference for bilingual Spanish and/or Creole.
Experience working with an integrated (CRM) system
Proficiency in Blackbaud a plus

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Vice President for Development will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer and will collaborate closely with the VP for Programming and the Chief Financial Officer. The Vice President for Development will serve as a member of the Senior Management Team. This position will oversee the Development Senior Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree
A minimum of ten years of applicable experience working in a membership-based institution or non-profit required
Proficiency in Blackbaud

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those as employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is usually done indoors in a climate-controlled environment and usually quiet. Occasionally, the work may entail interacting with Oolite Art’s visitors and in an outdoor environment.

COMPENSATION:
The Development Manager’s compensation level is commensurate with experience and includes a strong benefits plan, including health insurance, and 401(k) matching.
