THE GREATER MIAMI CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU (GMCVB) LAUNCHES MIAMI SPICE EARLY IN CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL RESTAURANT INDUSTRY

Part of the larger ‘Miami Shines’ recovery program, Miami Spice offers brunch, lunch and dinner specials now through September 30

MIAMI, FL (June 1, 2020) – The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) officially kicked off the 19th year of its beloved Miami Spice Restaurant Program. The program was fast-tracked to further support local restaurants reeling from impacts due to COVID-19. For the first time, Miami Spice Months will last four months – from June 1-September 30 – to offer restaurants prolonged exposure, and ultimately drive business. The promotion is also extended to take-out and delivery, another first for the program, since restaurants are currently required to operate at reduced dining room capacities. A complete list of participants and program details are available at www.MiamiShines.com/MiamiSpice.

The advance launch of Miami Spice is one of the GMCVB’s many efforts to support Miamians during this critical time, and this year, draws a parallel to the program’s start as a post 9/11 recovery effort. It also comes on the heels of the highly successful Miami Eats campaign that debuted in March to encourage take-out and delivery, and ordering direct. It started with just 320 restaurant partners and quickly grew to 1,200.

Miami Spice is a cornerstone of Miami Shines, a comprehensive travel and tourism recovery program to promote Greater Miami and the Beaches to locals, encouraging vacationing in their backyard, as well as tourists and organizations seeking locations for meetings and conventions. The program includes a strong lineup of promotional incentives across restaurants, hotels, museums, and attractions, and will also include spas once they are ready to reopen for business.

“While this is a slightly atypical Miami Spice, the GMCVB remains wholly committed to upholding the stellar reputation of this program and continuing to shed light on the incredible culinary talent across our vibrant destination,” said William D. Talbert III, C.D.M.E., President and CEO of the GMCVB. “We will never stop finding new ways to bolster Miamians, who continue to demonstrate resiliency time and time again.”

During Miami Spice, restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe menus at reduced prices of $25 per person for lunch and brunch and $39 per person for dinner. Diners can choose from more than 100 participating restaurants and counting, across some of the hottest neighborhoods in town – Miami Beach, Brickell, Downtown, Doral, Coral Gables, Little Havana, South Miami, Wynwood, Little Haiti, Sunny Isles and Bal Harbour. Prices include an appetizer, entrée and dessert; alcohol, tax, tip/service charges are excluded. While the program is open to GMCVB partners, the bureau is waiving fees to participate in Miami Spice. Restaurants can join in when they are fully operational or ready, allowing them to “Spice Now,” or “Spice Soon,” which will be denoted in the website directory.

Some of this year’s participants are as follows and will be updated regularly.
