A.D. "Doug" Barnes Park

Conveniently located in a bustling urban area of southwest Miami, A.D. Doug Barnes Park is a 65-acre oasis of family-friendly green space with native forest habitats, a fishing lake, jogging trails, picnic shelters, playground and much more. Home to a 15-acre wilderness of native South Florida tropical hardwood hammock and pine rockland habitats, A.D. Barnes Park offers visitors a respite from urban life and many ways to connect to nature.

Get Back to Nature

Hike the paved nature trails through one of the last remaining slivers of South Florida pine rockland. Visit the park's Nature Center where you can view Miami Dade County Fire Department's anti-venom reptile collection, learn about the native wildlife in the park or attend one of the Ecoadventure tours (by reservation). If you're a birdwatcher, bring your binoculars to catch sight of the many migratory and native birds that frequent the park - noted by the Audubon Society as one of the best birdwatching spots in Miami.

Dive In

The park also features a 25 meter 6 lane heated pool where, for a moderate fee of $3 per adult/child and $2 per senior, you can take a dip or swim some laps. Swim lessons for children and water exercises for seniors are also available.
