Alice C. Wainwright Park

Alice C. Wainwright Park

If you're in the Coconut Grove or Brickell area, you don't have to venture far to find this secluded, 17-acre bayfront park. With its picturesque terrain and expansive view of Biscayne Bay and Key Biscayne, it's the ideal spot for an intimate family outing, a scenic stroll or meditating the day's concerns away.

The park's natural features make it one of Coconut Grove's most unique coastal parks. From the lower elevation area, visitors have a rare opportunity to view an exposed limestone outcrop of the Miami Rock Ridge (which formerly encompassed the South Florida area) up close. To the northeast, in the wilderness area of the park, sits one of the remnants of Brickell Hammock - an expanse of tropical hardwood hammock that once stretched from the Miami River to North Grove. You can find the other remnants at Vizcaya and Simpson Park. At this time, there isn't public access into the hammock wilderness area of the park.

Recreation wise, the park features a basketball court, resistance based outdoor gym and large playground - all with views of the bay. Picnickers can choose from the many picnic shelters or the spacious lawn area. There are also three large pavilion shelters for parties of 20 people or less. Picnic shelters and pavilions are available on a first come first serve basis.

Park is free and open dawn to dusk.
