Other Ways to Experience Homestead Miami Speedway

With more than 280 active days a year at Miami Homestead Speedway, it’s easy to plan a visit to the track while you’re visiting Greater Miami & Miami Beach. Fast Lane Fridays are typically held twice a month. This legal drag racing event is open to anyone 18 years and older with a valid driver’s license and proof of registration and insurance. Held from 6 p.m. until midnight, drivers race against each other in their own cars down the 1,760-foot straightaway, while spectators cheer them on.

You can also reserve a spot at the NASCAR Racing Experience, where you get behind the wheel of a NASCAR race car and hit the turns for the ultimate racing experience. You’ll consult with a crew chief, hear one-on-one instructions from a spotter over the radio and have a brief pit stop after eight minutes of track time, before getting back out there to try for a faster time.

On December 26, 2022, the speedway plays host to Give Back at the Track. At this annual charitable event supporting the NASCAR Foundation, you can drive for a good cause.

The Speedway is also home to AMR Motorplex, a premier go-kart track with a kart shop and rentals that hosts its own races and events.

Homestead Miami Speedway facilities are available to rent for corporate events, car shows, motorcycle events and video or photo shoots. The Speedway occasionally hosts concerts and special events throughout the year, so be sure to check the events calendar when planning your visit.

The History of Homestead Miami Speedway

Homestead Miami Speedway broke ground in 1993 and held its Grand Opening Ceremonies and inaugural race, the Jiffy Lube Miami 300, in November 1995 with Dale Jarrett as the first winner. Four years later, the Speedway hosted NASCAR’s premier division for the first time and Tony Stewart won the Pennzoil 400.

This was just the beginning of impressive races to be held at the Speedway. In 2001, the Indy Racing League made its debut and Sam Hornish Jr. won the Toyota Indy 300. In November 2002, Homestead Miami Speedway became home of the NASCAR Ford Championship Weekend, when all of NASCAR’s premier leagues concluded their seasons on its tracks.

In 2009, the Speedway’s dominance continued as the first venue to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championships, including The Indy Car, Grand-Am & Firestone Indy Lights Series and NASCAR’s Sprint Cup, Nationwide & Camping World Truck Series.

Through the years, Homestead Miami Speedway has awarded championship cups to racers such as Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Dario Franchitti, Ron Hornaday Jr., Austin Dillon and many more. That legacy continues today with the exciting NASCAR Cup Series Dixie 400 weekend.

No matter what brings you to the track, you’re sure to have an adrenaline-pumping good time!
