Decomposition Compositions Workshop
This event has passed.
Unleash your creativity and contribute to a unique community project. O, Miami's Decomposition Compositions workshop offers a fresh approach to writing, inspired by the transformative process of composting. Led by Miami poet Beata Rikhter, this event takes place on Sunday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The North Beach Compost Hub.
The workshop uses the concept of composting as a metaphor for the creative writing process. Participants will begin by journaling and then, through prompts and editing, refine their work down to its core elements. These elements will then be shared and built upon by fellow participants, fostering a collaborative exchange. This cycle of reduction and expansion will be repeated throughout the workshop, resulting in poems that are a product of this unique collaborative process.
The final poems created in the workshop will be printed on stickers and displayed on compost collection bags at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, promoting both creative expression and environmental awareness. The workshop concludes with an optional opportunity to enjoy the beach with fellow participants.
