From glittering luxury to bargain-friendly outlets, Miami’s malls have something everyone.
Shoppers who find themselves in Miami are in for a treat. The city is filled with beautiful malls that range from uber-luxury to outlet mall havens. From the beautifully landscaped Bal Harbour Shops and Shops at Merrick Park, to the sprawling mega-malls of Dadeland and Dolphin, there’s a destination for every shopper under the sun in Miami.
Consistently ranked one of the top five highest-grossing malls in the country, Aventura Mall is home to over 300 retailers. One of Miami’s more upscale malls, it’s anchored by six department stores including Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Macy’s, and boasts luxury boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Tiffany and Co., Fendi and Burberry. Choose from more affordable brands like H&M, J. Crew and Urban Outfitters, or get your tech fix at the Apple and Microsoft stores. Aventura features 12 different restaurants including the Cheesecake Factory, as well as a 24-screen AMC Movie Theatre with IMAX. Make time for the little ones to burn off some energy at the mall’s artist-designed, interactive playground.
Take a moment to get off the beach and spend a day at Dadeland Mall. At over 1.4 million square-feet, it’s home to Florida’s largest Macy’s with both a Macy’s Kids store and a Macy’s Home Gallery, making it a popular destination for furniture shopping. Other department stores include Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and JCPenney. With more than 185 stores, Dadeland features popular brands like The Apple Store, Coach, Hollister, Sephora and Zara. For the tech-inclined, pop into the Microsoft or Tesla store. Just don’t skip a meal while at Dadeland. With restaurants like Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burger Palace and Canadian transplant Earls Kitchen + Bar, you’d be missing out on a great meal.
Bal Harbour Shops
The legendary Bal Harbour Shops have made the village of Bal Harbour synonymous with luxury shopping. Opened in 1965 by owner and developer Stanley Whitman, it became Florida’s first exclusively high fashion shopping center on what was once World War II army barracks. The 450,000 square-foot al fresco mall features over 100 shops and is anchored by luxury department stores Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Laid out in catwalks and shaded breezeways, it’s landscaped with palm trees, bright tropical flowers, koi ponds and limestone and marble fountains, creating a relaxing, pleasant shopping environment. The enviable list of designer boutiques include Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga, Chloe, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Valentino. For the shoe fanatic, there’s Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti and Tod’s. Make time for a meal at either Makoto for some of the best Japanese and sushi in Miami or the chic, playful Le Zoo for French bistro fare.
Shops at Merrick Park
Located in the heart of The City Beautiful, Coral Gables’ Shops at Merrick Park is an upscale al fresco mall. The manicured courtyard garden with Mediterranean-inspired fountains are surrounded by luxury retailers, like Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg and Burberry. Anchored by Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, it’s not all upscale glitz and glam here. You can also find more affordably priced retailers like J. Crew, Athleta, Madewell, Anthropologie and Banana Republic. When it’s time to unwind, choose from dining venues like Yardhouse for pub grub and craft beer, Villagio for fine Italian fare or Crave for sushi.
For designer brands at affordable prices, look no further than Doral’s Dolphin Mall. It’s Miami’s largest outlet shopping center with more than 240 stores including Calvin Klein Factory Outlet, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Off 5th and Tommy Hilfiger Company Store. It’s so much more than a shopping mall, though, with premium entertainment venues like the upscale CineBistro movie theater, Dave and Buster's and Strike Miami bowling alley. The massive Atrio food court features 30 dining destinations, while the mall also boasts 17 sit down restaurants, including Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Brother Jimmy's BBQ and The Cheesecake Factory.
Miami International Mall
At over 1 million square feet, you can get some serious shopping done at Miami International Mall. Located in Doral near the Miami International Airport, it’s home to major retailers like Macy's Women's and Kid's, Macy's Men's and Home, JCPenney, Kohl's, Sears, and H&M. You can also shop at over 140 boutiques, like bebe, Cache, Coach, Forever 21 and Guess. With 22 restaurants to choose from, like The Knife and BJ’s, you can easily make a day of it at this sprawling mall.
Mall of the Americas
Also located in western Miami near the airport, the Mall of Americas features affordable retailers like Marshalls, Old Navy Outlet, Home Depot, Ross Dress for Less, Costco and FootLocker. It’s home to a 14-screen AMC movie theater for a fun diversion from shopping. In keeping with its theme, the food court is home to international cuisine of the Americas, including Honduran, Brazilian and Cuban restaurants.
Miami International Airport
While it’s technically not a mall, there is plenty of shopping to be done at the Miami International Airport. Whether it’s a last minute souvenir, luxury goods or duty free purchases, it’s not a bad way to kill some time before your flight. Terminal D is home to some of the best shops and restaurants, including local independent bookstore Books & Books and South Beach’s own Icebox Café (they make a killer quiche before a morning flight). Check the terminal maps for your departure gate and look for top retailers like Coach, Brookstone, Hugo Boss, L’Occitane and Michael Kors.
Located in South Miami’s Cutler Bay area, Southland Mall is home to over 120 retailers including Macy's, Sears, JC Penney, TJ Maxx and Old Navy. It’s a family-friendly environment with plenty of attractions catering to the little ones like a carousel, indoor playground and bounce house. Make a day of it by grabbing a bite to eat at one of Southland’s eateries, like Applebee's, Buffalo Wild Wings or Johnny Rockets and then settle into a cushy seat at the 16-screen Regal Cinema.
Centered around a million gallon waterscape, the fittingly named The Falls, this mall in Pinecrest offers a lush, open-air shopping experience in South Miami. Anchored by Macy’s and Bloomingdales, it also boasts Origins, Swarovski and Talbots. With plenty of restaurants to choose from, it’s home to the upscale grocery store Fresh Market. It’s a great mall for the whole family, featuring a Build-a-Bear Workshop, American Girl and a salon for kids called Cartoon Cuts. End your shopping adventure with a matinee at the onsite Regal Cinema.
