Annual Miami Sporting Events

By Matthew Meltzer - July 27, 2026

Greater Miami and Miami Beach leads as one of America’s great sports cities. Home to popular pro teams like the Miami Marlins (baseball), Miami Heat (basketball), Miami Dolphins (football) and Inter Miami CF (soccer), the destination is a dream for fans of any sport.

Year-round outdoor weather and an abundance of unique hotels also make it ideal for hosting major sporting events, from beach polo to pro golf, car races, tennis championships and everything in between.

With marquee sporting events happening year-round, there's always a great time to catch the action in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. Explore our calendar and start planning.

Fireworks show at the Orange Bowl
Be part of Orange Bowl history at Hard Rock Stadium.

    The Orange Bowl

    December/January

The Capital One Orange Bowl is a New Year’s tradition dating back to 1933. Named after the iconic stadium that stood in Little Havana, the current Orange Bowl game is played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, on New Year’s Day or sometime around it.

Over the years, the Orange Bowl game has crowned college football’s national champion over a dozen times. Today, the Orange Bowl is part of the College Football Playoff, and hosts either a quarterfinal or semifinal game each year pitting two of the country’s top eight teams in a high-stakes matchup.

    Pegasus World Cup Invitational

    January

The Pegasus World Cup is one of the richest events in horse racing, and one of the great celebrity and fashion spectacles of the year. Held on the Saturday of the last full weekend in January at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Pegasus is a full day of racing in which the world’s top horses compete for millions of dollars in prize money. The racing is a small part of the day, though, as top tier musical artists perform after the final race, keeping fans long into the night.

    Formula E Miami Grand Prix

    January

Far quieter than its F1 counterpart, Formula E Miami Grand Prix packs the same high-speed auto racing excitement using all-electric vehicles. Formula E began racing across the track at Hard Rock Stadium in 2025, with cars hitting speeds upwards of 200 miles per hour – far faster than traditional car races.

With tickets significantly more affordable than F1, it’s a family-friendly way to get into motorsports.

Life Time Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon

    January/February

The Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon takes over the streets of the destination on the last Sunday in January or first Sunday in February and has become one of the most popular marathons in America over its 24-year history. Today, it draws over 25,000 runners from every state and over 80 countries, crossing the causeways into Miami Beach and back into Downtown Miami.

Half-marathoners start and finish at Bayfront Park, while full marathoners continue to Coconut Grove. For beginning runners, the flat course offers a fairly easy route, and for advanced runners, Miami’s humid mornings offer a special challenge.

    Bicyclist at Gravel Miami
Ride through the Everglades on an unforgettable cycling adventure at Gravel Miami.

    Gravel Miami

    February

Exploring the Everglades can be tricky if you don’t know where to go. For cycling enthusiasts, one of the coolest ways to delve into the River of Grass is by riding in Gravel Miami, a cycling event that rolls along the gravel paths crisscrossing the Everglades.

The race is open to the public and offers 47- and 86-mile routes, so anyone with a decent level of bike fitness can participate. Though if you’re a skilled cyclist, the top five men’s and women’s finishers receive prize money. It begins and ends at Milagros Farm in Kendall, with a full lunch/brunch after the event.

    Cadillac Championship

    March

Miami’s biggest golf event of the year happens during the first weekend of March at the Cadillac Championship in Doral. One of the PGA Tour’s largest non-major events, the championship plays along the iconic Blue Monster at Trump National Doral.

The enhanced course design is almost like a stadium, with viewing areas elevated along the fairways and vantage points only a few yards from the golfers. The parties on the course are a big part of the weekend, too, making it a distinctly Miami way to experience professional golf.

Watch the world's best tennis players compete at the Miami Open.

    Miami Open

    March

From its beginnings at the old tennis center on Key Biscayne, the Miami Open has exploded from a simple tennis tournament to one of the destination’s biggest events of the year. Since 2019, the Miami Open has taken over Hard Rock Stadium, drawing over 400,000 fans to its courts to see the biggest names in the sport.

The two-week extravaganza sees local bars and restaurants open on-site pop-ups, making $100 caviar hot dogs and court-side omakase as much a part of the experience as tennis. It also gives fans the chance to watch tennis inside an NFL stadium, something no other tennis tournament can offer.

    Competing at Miami Sailing Week
Set sail for an unforgettable week of racing and waterfront fun.

    Miami Sailing Week

    March

March brings Miami’s signature regatta as Miami Sailing Week docks in Coconut Grove. The week-long competition showcases races for youth sailors to professionals, with over 200 boats from over 20 countries competing.

Fans can watch from Regatta Park, where hospitality tents and live music provide a perfect backdrop for the races. There are, of course, parties, as well as art and photography displays by local and international artists.

    Horse jumping at Longines
Experience elite equestrian competition with an oceanfront backdrop.

    Longines Global Champions Tour

    April

If you haven’t seen the majesty of a prized show horse leaping against the backdrop of Miami Beach, it’s one of the greatest sights in sports. See it along with a full weekend of horse jumping at the Longines Global Champions Tour, held the first weekend of April in front of the The Setai, Miami Beach in South Beach.

Top riders from across America and the world compete at one of the sport’s most unique venues, with bleachers placed right on the sand just feet from the shore. VIP hospitality suites are also available for the full, luxurious equestrian experience.

Rider with his horse at Countryfest
Enjoy rodeo action, live entertainment and family-friendly fun at Miami-Dade Countryfest.

    Miami-Dade Countryfest

    April

Still haven’t been to your first rodeo? Miami-Dade Countryfest is a great place to start. It began as the Miami Agriculture, Horse and Cattle Show in 2015, and has become Miami's biggest western event. Each day features a two-hour rodeo, where bronc and bull riders display amazing feats of athleticism, while other cowboys race through barrels on horseback and rope cattle from a moving steed.

The weekend also includes the region’s largest cattle auction, a petting zoo and an air-conditioned VIP saloon for a total taste of the Old West. The festival is free, though the rodeo and VIP saloon are ticketed.  All of it goes down at the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park near Westchester.

Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix

    May

The Formula 1 Miami Crypto.com Grand Prix is more than just an auto race. It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year in Miami, packed with parties, celebrities and concerts leading up to race day.

The Grand Prix takes place at the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, a 19-turn, 3.63-mile track where cars reach speeds up to 200 miles per hour. While the big race is on Sunday, Friday and Saturday feature qualifiers and lower-division races, so whichever day you attend, you’re guaranteed high-speed thrills.

You’ll also find dozens of local restaurants popping up, luxurious hospitality suites and plenty of liquor brands and bars to keep you refreshed all afternoon.

Watch the next generation of golf talent take the course.

    Optimist International Junior Golf Championship

    July

Tomorrow’s stars of the PGA Tour take on the Blue Monster at one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf tournaments in the world. The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship takes over Trump National Doral, showcasing golfers as young as 10 years old on a course where the pros play.

The tournament has been a proving ground for some of the biggest names in the sport, as the likes of Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Tiger Woods made their names here. Both boys and girls in four different age groups ranging from 10 to 18 years old play over a two-week period.

    Orange Blossom Classic

    September

The Orange Blossom Classic is one of the oldest college football traditions in America, dating all the way back to 1933. That game, held in Jacksonville, Florida, was founded as a way to showcase the talents at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) before television and was held every year until 1978.

In 2021, the tradition returned to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The Classic continues every Labor Day Weekend as traditional host Florida A&M University squares off with a perennial HBCU power, with all the passion, pageantry and marching band madness that comes with it.

    NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race

    November

A thrilling weekend of auto racing at Homestead Miami Speedway in South Dade is capped off by the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. As the name implies, this final race of the NASCAR season crowns that year’s champion, the culminating event of NASCAR’s Chase playoffs.

The weekend also features races from NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and Craftsmen Truck circuits on Friday and Saturday.

    Beach Polo World Cup

    November

The beach in front of Collins Park in South Beach transforms into an oceanside polo grounds for the Beach Polo World Cup each November. The largest beach polo event in the world, it draws the sport’s biggest names along with the swanky crowd that accompanies such high-end events. You won't see any traditional polo divot-stomping, but you will find luxury VIP and hospitality tents and free viewing from the sand.
