Packing for Miami
The key to packing for Miami is keeping it LIGHT. The weather is warm and sunny, so you don’t need layers. Keep it simple with a few great pieces. Besides, you never know what you will come home with, Miami has fantastic shopping!
Wrap Scarf - This is your most versatile travel companion!
- Wrap it around your waist as a cover-up by the pool.
- Lay it out to use as a towel.
- Fold up for a great head pillow while laying out at the beautiful Miami beaches.
- Wrap your wet hair up into a chic turban look.
- Drape across shoulders for protection from the sun.
Panama Hat - It may seem cliché, but a great Panama hat is so necessary in Miami. The Panama Hat is actually of Ecuadorian origin, but through popular culture the style is associated with island life and tropical living. It’s fun to dive into the Miami lifestyle right away with a simple hat.
The Bikini - On vacation I love to get tan lines. Using the same swimsuit (or style) is a good way to keep track of how much sun your getting.
One-piece - In Miami, swimwear is a form of clothing. It’s totally appropriate to go to lunch in a swimsuit and coverup. I love one-pieces for days where I am not too concerned with tanning, and more concerned with having fun! A one-piece paired with a cover up can take you to the pool, lunch, afternoon shopping, the spa or bar with ease and comfort.
Sunglasses - I promise you will have these attached to your face for all waking hours (and maybe even later at nightclub, LIV). Bring a few pairs! You won’t want to accessorize too much on the beach. Changing up your sunglasses mid-vacation will keep you feeling stylish and eyes protected.
Wedges - In Miami, the women like to wear heels. Yes, sometimes even to the beach! Wedges are the best option for tropical packing because the same pair can take your look from day to night.
Zip Clutch - You don’t need much to carry around with you because of the beautiful weather, but it’s nice to have a zip-up pouch to carry identification, lip balm, money and your room key.
Maxi Dress - When it’s 90 degrees and sunny, you want as little fabric as possible with maximum impact. Bring along a flowy, brightly printed maxi dress that will keep you cool, comfortable and stylish.
