Join Books & Books for an in-person author talk with author Ayana Mathis on Thursday, February 8. Mathis will discuss her recently-published book The Unsettled, an emotionally charged multi-generational novel about a mother struggling to survive in racially and politically turbulent Philadelphia and in the town of Bonaparte, Alabama, during the 1980s.
Mathis first novel, The Twelve Tribes of Hattie was a New York Times best seller and an NPR Best Book of 2013. Her nonfiction has been published in the The New York Times, The Atlantic, Guernica, and RollingStone. She currently lives in New York City and teaches writing in Hunter College’s MFA Program.
