Experience an extraordinary collaboration as Dance NOW! Miami, Florida's premier contemporary group, joins forces with Italy's Compagnia Opus Ballet for an exclusive performance at the Miami Theater Center on Sunday, March 17. This special presentation features a new, joint version of Gli Altri/The Others, along with other works.
The culmination of an international cultural partnership, this rendition of Gli Altri/The Others emerges from Dance Now! Miami's visit to Florence last July, where they collaborated with Compagnia Opus Ballet. Together, they have expanded the piece to include a blended cast and new sections never before seen in Miami. Originally choreographed by Dance Now Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini, Gli Altri/The Others intertwines filmmaker Federico Fellini’s cinematic imagery with confessional storytelling, creating powerful symbolism that serves as a social commentary on the identities of marginalized individuals. This iteration will also feature the artistic contributions of Italian choreographer Emiliano Candiago.
The program also includes The White Room, a Miami debut by Opus Ballet, featuring choreography by Adriano Bolognino and music by Max Richter, Joep Beving and The National. This contemporary work features performers in an abstract white space inspired by Giovanni Segantini's painting The Return From the Woods. Additionally, the afternoon performance will include Sogni, the things my dreams are made of, offering a surreal journey into the mind of choreographer Diego Salterini.
