What Munich started in 1810 has since become an annual tradition for beer lovers all over the world. And here in Miami, we’re all about it! Every fall, different South Florida bars, restaurants and even German-American organizations honor the annual German beer festival with celebrations that bring Oktoberfest to life. Running from late September through mid-October, these German-inspired festivals promise Bavarian food, beer, music, games and fun for the whole family. Prost, Miami! It’s time to pretend we’re in Munich.

25th Anniversary Fritz & Franz Bierhaus Oktoberfest

Miami’s most popular bierhaus, Fritz & Franz, is a restaurant staple in Coral Gables—and this year, it’s celebrating 25 years of its popular Fritz & Franz Bierhaus Oktoberfest! In honor of the festivities, the restaurant will host an all-day “beerfest party” with good German food, good German music and of course, good German beer. Waitresses will be clad in their usual dirndl, and the fun will take place every Thursday through Sunday during the 11-day period. See dates and times here. Runs from Thursday, October 3, through Sunday, October 13; 60 Merrick Way; 305-774-1883.

The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill

Located off a side road in the heart of Wynwood, The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill is a full-service restaurant with a large menu of German and Eastern European dishes. And come Oktoberfest 2019, it will once again host its annual German fête! For two weeks, get ready for daily German food and drink specials, weekend DJ booths and Bavarian beer from different breweries. The event will also feature the return of its two annual contests, the Liter Chug and Liter Hold/Stein Hoist contests, where participants compete to see who can chug a liter of beer the fastest and who can hold one with one arm the longest. Runs from Monday, October 1, through Sunday, October 13; 165 NW 23rd St.; 305-846-9120.

Grovetoberfest

Florida's largest all-inclusive beer festival is back in Coconut Grove, and this time, it’s in a new location: Regatta Park! This year, beer lovers can hit the festival for more than 400 craft beers, live entertainment, German snacks and more. The outdoor event is happening rain or shine, so bring an umbrella, in case you need it. Tickets start at $44 per person (for general admission) and include unlimited beer samples. See information about tickets and times here. Saturday, October 12; Regatta Park, 3500 Pan American Dr.; 305-461-2700.
