Put on your lederhosen, Miami—Oktoberfest is back!

In honor of the original Munich festivities, bars, restaurants and German-American organizations across South Florida are pulling out all the stops and hosting Oktoberfest 2018 celebrations of their own. Taking place throughout the month of October, these German-inspired festivals promise Bavarian food, beer, music, games and fun for the whole family. Prost!The month of October is known for Germany's Oktoberfest and we are able to experience a sense of what it must be like in Munich.

Fritz & Franz Bierhaus

Miami’s most popular bierhaus, Fritz & Franz, is a restaurant staple in Coral Gables. All month long, German food lovers can go here for a special Oktoberfest menu and Bavarian draft beers served by dirndl-clad waitresses. Runs through Sunday, October 28; 60 Merrick Way; 305-774-1883.

The Butcher Shop

Bringing back its annual German fête, The Butcher Shop Miami will get everyone in the Oktoberfest 2018 spirit with beer from different local Bavarian breweries, Jagermeister shot specials, Liter Chug and Liter Hold/Stein Hoist contests, raffles, giveaways and more. Guests can indulge in traditional Bavarian plates (think: Bavarian sausage platters, veal schnitzel, jumbo German pretzels and apple strudel) while a DJ keeps the party going with good music. Florida's largest craft beer festival is back to its native spot in Coconut Grove, and you don’t want to miss the fun! This year, beer lovers can head to Peacock Park for 500+ local craft beer tastings, live music, German snacks and a blast from the past: tents where friendly rivals can battle it out on retro, 8-bit video games like Super Mario Bros. Oktoberfest Miami

Founded in 1949, The German American Social Club likes to celebrate its heritage by sharing it with the South Florida community. In fact, The German American Social Club first celebrated Oktoberfest in 1958, and has held the longest-running edition of the festival in the United States since then. Taking place over two weekends, this Oktoberfest celebration will honor authentic German culture with Bavarian food and beer, live German music and traditional folk dancing. Making it fun for the whole family, there will be bounce houses, magic shows, games and rides for kids. Sam Adams Wharftoberfest

Head to the Miami River and celebrate Oktoberfest like only The Wharf can! The trendy, riverside space will come alive with German beer, German dishes from The Wharf’s eight food trucks and live polka bands. Admission is free, and the first 1,000 to arrive (with an RSVP) will get a free Wharf Miami hat. Saturday, October 13; 114 SW North River Drive; 305-906-4000.
