When you’re in the mood for a quiet, luxurious escape in Miami, the residential neighborhood of Aventura might be just what you need. Anchored by Aventura Mall and the newly unveiled JW Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa resort, Aventura is a top shopping, golfing and boating destination. Of course, while you’re there, you’ll need a few good meals to fuel your weekend in paradise. From celebrity chef restaurants to Instagram-worthy cafés, here are the best places to eat in Aventura.

Bourbon Steak

Located inside the JW Turnberry Miami, Bourbon Steak is the brainchild of James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur, Michael Mina. Guests of this ritzy American steakhouse will be greeted by a glittering foyer and a sultry, but playful design scheme—think: rich varnished hardwoods, smoked glass, tufted leather banquettes and floor-to-ceiling collections of Wine Spectator Award-winning wine. In lieu of bread, this steakhouse serves its famous rosemary-herb, onion-dusted and smoked paprika duck fat fries with housemade spicy ketchup, BBQ and onion and sour cream sauces. From there, a tantalizing menu with butter-poached steaks, Maine lobster pot pie with truffle and brandied lobster cream, glazed beef short rib, A5 Japanese wagyu beef, fresh seafood and more will keep both your table and stomach full. 19999 W. Country Club Dr., Aventura, FL 33180.

Corsair Kitchen & Bar

Another restaurant in the JW Turnberry Miami is Corsair Kitchen & Bar, an American-inspired kitchen and bar that’s known for its light comfort food options. Dine here any day of the week and get playful, seasonal menus of flatbreads, salads, soups, pasta, seafood and meat dishes. For a real treat, don’t miss the Saturday and Sunday brunch. Called “The 52 | Brunch Beyond Limits” this buffet brunch adds something new to the menu’s 52 weekends of the year (hence the name) and pairs it all with fun lawn games and bottomless mimosas. 19999 W. Country Club Dr., Aventura, FL 33180.

International Smoke

If you want another taste of Michael Mina’s mouthwatering cuisine, try International Smoke, a relaxed, upscale, BBQ-style restaurant at Aventura Mall. Opened alongside New York Times best-selling author and restaurateur Ayesha Curry, the menu is inspired by Mina and Curry’s personal travels and centered around “fire and smoke” cooking techniques from around the world. Start with a creative cocktail—like a smoky twist on an Old Fashioned—and move on to a menu of perfectly-charred steaks, seafood, ribs and not-so-standard BBQ favorites. Some favorites include: smoked burrata, cornbread with Thai red curry butter, ahi tuna tartare poppers, Korean short ribs, truffled Caesar salad, BBQ sweet potatoes with cabbage and apple slaw, buttermilk fried chicken, short rib-tip macaroni and cheese, and for a sweet ending, Fireman Derek’s Key lime pie. 19565 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 946, Aventura, FL 33180.

Argentinian food has a huge following in South Florida, and Novecento is a fun, trendy place to find it. Serving a classic Argentinian menu in a European café setting, grab a table here and indulge in beef empanadas, different ceviches, fried tostones, steaks, pastas, sweetbreads, sharing plates with six variations of meat, a house-made chimichurri sauce and more. Pair it with a bottle of one of Argentina’s fine wines and you’re in for a delicious night out in Aventura. 18831 N. Biscayne Blvd., Aventura, FL 33180.

800° Woodfired Kitchen

Owned by NBA stars Udonis Haslem and Dwayne Wade, 800° Woodfired Kitchen plays with the “art of cooking with fire.” Chef Anthony Carron, of Michael Mina and the more than 40-year-old Olivette Diner, infuses everything from craft pizzas, rotisserie meats, salads, bowls, vegetable plates and more with the perfect amount of smokiness. Everything here is made in house, and if you’re there on the right day, you might even find Wayde or Haslem trying their hand in the kitchen just for fun. 2956 NE 199th St., Aventura, FL 33180.

Originally launched in NYC, Serafina is a sexy Italian eatery with a huge celebrity following. Of its 30 locations around the world, one can be found in Aventura Mall. Dubbed a place “where everyone feels at home,” the kitchen serves a menu of homemade pastas, salads, pizzas and entrées, like the filet mignon burger with gorgonzola cheese and caramelized onions, sea bass filet wrapped in thin-sliced potatoes and served on a bed of zucchini and leeks, and the restaurant’s legendary Tartufo Nero Pizza topped with Italian gourmet black truffles. This indoor-outdoor restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, and stays lively with DJs, karaoke, live bands and a solid beer, wine and cocktail menu. Whenever you go, don’t leave your phone at home. Between the neon-lit angel wings, David Beckham-themed ladies room and JLo-themed men’s room, you’ll want to Instagram a lot. 19565 Biscayne Blvd. #1944 Aventura, FL 33180.

Pubbelly Sushi

Started in Miami by acclaimed chef and restaurateur Jose Mendin, Pubbelly Sushi is where you go for trendy Asian small plates with Mendin’s signature Latin flair. Start with a bottle of sake, or even better—a sake cocktail—and move on to sharing plates like tuna “pizza” with garlic aioli and truffle oil, tostones topped with ceviche, robata-grilled octopus with spicy lemongrass and crispy garlic and truffled corn with cotija cheese and yuzu. Here, sushi rolls are anything but standard; the butter krab roll with kanikama, ponzu and warm clarified butter proves why. Don’t leave without trying one of its tantalizing desserts, like the chocolate miso bread pudding or Coco Loco, which combines compressed pineapple and textures of coconut with a spiced house-made blondie and brown butter streusel. 19501 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura, FL 33180.

Genuine Pizza

Michael Schwartz strikes again! The James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur opened an outpost of his ingredient-driven pizza concept, Genuine Pizza, in Aventura Mall. Grab a wooden table or an orange barstool under strung lights, and choose from (you guessed it!) an impressive pizza menu. Start with an order of polenta fries with spicy ketchup, and move on to the pie of your choosing: the short rib pizza with Gruyère and caramelized onions, rock shrimp pizza with roasted lemon and manchego, and BLT pizza with bacon and Italico cheese are a few fan favorites. While you eat, you can even see where the magic happens. There’s a window into the dough-making room, letting diners see their pizza crust being made right before their eyes. 19565 Biscayne Blvd., Unit 956, Aventura, FL 33180.
