Coral Gables: Shopping

Charming Coral Gables has kept the beautiful small city feel that George Merrick envisioned when he planned the city back in 1925. He used to brag that every business was just two blocks away. Today, it’s pretty much the same. The downtown area has expanded a bit, but the walkable shopping district continues to thrive. Here you’ll find independent stores full of goodies, high quality shops, eclectic fashionable finds, home goods, tasty artisanal treats and high end designer outposts.

The area is famous for bridal shopping, designer duds, boutiques filled with unique treasures, food markets, handcrafted specialties and bespoke menswear. If that sounds like a lot – it is. Downtown Coral Gables, the surrounding streets and the large outdoor luxury mall, Village of Merrick Park , are all brimming with tremendous shopping potential.

Miracle Mile and Downtown Coral Gables

Miracle Mile is Coral Gables’ “Main Street.” This palm-lined thoroughfare is as charming from the outside as the stores are on the inside. At the head of Miracle Mile, towards the residential Gables area and rest of the commercial area, is the historic Coral Gables City Hall. It was built in the Mediterranean Revival style. On the other end, Miracle Mile turns into Coral Way. It runs directly into other popular areas in Miami like Brickell, Downtown and the entrances to Miami Beach and Key Biscayne.

Miracle Mile is dotted with little stores of all kinds. Here you’ll find great boutiques for an outfit to wear out on the town. Just down the block in Downtown Coral Gables is a great selection of wine bars, home décor stores with gilded candle holders and eyewear outposts that suit your facial shape and personal style.

Men who are looking to take home a well-tailored guayabera, a traditional handmade Cuban dress shirt, or a set of spiffy work clothes will find just what they need. Look no further than Miracle Mile and the adjacent streets. If your kitchen is in need of some updating, there are four stores specializing in high-end kitchen wares.

Have your hair done while you’re walking in the neighborhood and take back the products they used. Did we mention Miracle Mile’s salons are famous in the city? These expert hairdressers will leave you looking spic and span for your vacation in Miami and recommend hair products so you can keep it looking just as fabulous at home. Speaking of spic and span, try on the perfect outfit to go with your new look at Hip E Boutique. It’s an upscale women’s clothing boutique with your favorite fashion forward labels like Elizabeth and James, Diane von Furstenberg Swim, Vince and more.

There’s nothing like a little glitz to take home with you as a reminder of a trip to Miami. Bring back some gold, silver and diamonds from one of the area’s fine jewelers.

Have a sweet tooth? Pick up some quality chocolate treats from Peterbrooke Chocolatier like hand dipped fruits, chocolate covered popcorn, gelato and chocolate treats like dark chocolate toffee, milk chocolate peanut butter and more.

Village of Merrick Park

Just a short drive away from Miracle Mile, still within Coral Gables’ urban and commercial core, is the Village of Merrick Park. The Village of Merrick Park is a high-end, designer shopping mall. Merrick Park is a lovely and lush shopping center with the kind of high-end names you find at only the finest malls and in Paris, Milan and New York. The stores skew toward luxury brands but you can certainly find a deal at this al fresco shopping mall.

Come to the Village of Merrick Park to eat a meal, shop, walk around and shop some more. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom anchor the mall. But you’ll also find designer names like Hugo Boss, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Coach, Cole Haan, Diane von Furstenberg, Donald J. Pliner, Etro, Faconnable, Furla, Gucci and more. There are also trendy favorites like J Crew, Anthropologie and Liapela’s Modern Baby, which carries modern baby products.

Bridal Shopping

Brides and grooms from around the country, and the world, flock to Coral Gables to find all they need for their big day. More than 25 stores specialize in dresses, cakes, invitations, jewelry, the perfect up do, flower girl’s accessories and more. Whatever your needs, budget or style, you’ll find it in one of the many bridal boutiques.
