PRIZM ART FAIR 2023
The 11th Edition, Prizm Art Fair will present Civilization is Not Civil considering the nature by which “civil”izations are established. Civilization is not Civil will explore the irony that civilizations are born of not-so-civil acts. The program will include four sections: Prizm Panels, Prizm Perform, Prizm Film, Prizm Preview, and, of course, Prizm Art Fair at large, exhibiting international artists from Africa and the global African diaspora.

STRANGE FRUIT – HOMAGE TO PURVIS YOUNG
Strange Fruit is an unexpected group show by artists of African descent who pay homage to Purvis Young through their avant-garde investigations of contemporary portraiture, recycled art, installation and sculpture. Mbida, Kialeuka, Diarra, Tsimba and Washington, brought together for the first time to present new works entering dialogs with the philosophy and unique artistic concerns of the pioneer of the Miami street art scene. Starting from an ensemble of seminal paintings by Purvis Young, this group show further explores notions of tradition, history and identity in Black figuration, while also ringing forward fresh artistic investigations on social expressionism and animism. Like strange fruit exhibited side by side, these artists celebrate the rich hybridity of Miami and the place of the city on the world art stage.
