Meet in Miami, A Multicultural Melting Pot
- March 11, 2024
Greater Miami & Miami Beach is home to a rich melting pot of cultures with deep roots and history in several dynamic neighborhoods, where there's so much to explore and discover. When it comes to hosting meetings and events, these multicultural neighborhoods offer various meeting spaces, conference rooms, event spaces and venues that highlight several aspects of each community's history and culture.

Host Your Event In Little Havana's Cultural Haven
The heart of Miami's Cuban diaspora pulses along Calle Ocho (Southwest 8th Street) in Little Havana. Home to Domino Park, iconic cigar shops and family-owned Cuban restaurants dishing up authentic Cuban cuisine, a visit to Little Havana is a compelling cultural immersion. And it’s near Miami International Airport.

Ball & Chain's 1930s Dance Hall Venue
For meeting planners, one of the most historic venues on Calle Ocho is also one of the most dynamic for events. Ball & Chain, the historic 1930s-era dance hall that once played host to Billie Holiday, Chet Baker and Count Basie, has been reimagined as a modern-day restaurant, bar and Latin jazz and salsa club. With a dining room, bar and back patio with a bandshell, Ball & Chain can accommodate up to about 100 guests. Its in-house catering menu highlights Cuban cuisine and drinks, from paella to mojitos, and its team goes the extra mile with options for live cigar rollers, salsa dancers and custom domino tables.

Terras at Life House: Meetings with a View of Miami's Skyline
Little Havana is also home to the boutique Life House hotel, where your group can book room blocks for an overnight stay. The rooftop Terras restaurant is available for private and semi-private events of up to 40 guests. With lush, green foliage, rattan furniture, striped umbrellas and Miami's skyline as the backdrop, it's a stylish setting for a meeting in which your group can enjoy a menu inspired by Caribbean and Latin American street food.

Embrace Little Haiti's Vibrant Culture for Your Next Event
Add a Splash of the Caribbean to Your Meeting at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex
Miami is home to a dynamic Haitian community, and the Little Haiti Cultural Complex in Little Haiti is at the center of it all. Anchored by the Caribbean Marketplace, a replica of Port Au Prince's famed Iron Market, this multidimensional venue can cater to various events and meetings. Dedicated to showcasing Haitian art, sculpture and crafts as well as Afro-Caribbean folk dancing and music, the Little Haiti Cultural Complex provides a unique venue and opportunities for cultural exchange.
For gala affairs or large conferences of up to 2,500 guests, center buyouts, which include full access to the art gallery, courtyard, 300-seat theatre and theatre lobby, are available. Each of these venues can also be booked separately. The palm tree-lined courtyard, with a concrete stage and colorful mural by Richard Allen, is particularly popular and can be configured as a banquet for 250 guests, a reception for 300, a theater for 500 or a standing affair for 1,000. Various smaller rooms, ranging from 625 to 1,035 square feet for about 20 to 50 guests, make for excellent meeting spaces. The complex's team will work with you to ensure every detail is accounted for, from staffing to A/V equipment and rentals.
To add authentic Haitian cuisine to your special event, Chef Creole is a neighborhood go-to. Its catering menu highlights classic Haitian dishes, from conch salad to pork griot, oxtail, rice and peas, and so much more.

Host Your Event Amid the Rich Heritage of Historic Overtown
The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex
Historic Overtown has seen the fascinating history of Miami's Black community, dating back to its 1930s heyday, when it was known as "Little Broadway" and the "Harlem of the South." Once a bustling entertainment district, this neighborhood is where stars like Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald performed, and civil rights leaders and athletes, from Martin Luther King Jr. to Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali, mingled inside its clubs. Today, much of that history lives on inside The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex. Dating back to 1913, the 400-seat theater has been lovingly restored and expanded to create a modern venue dedicated to the neighborhood’s history and culture. In addition to the theater, it's home to two banquet rooms, a lobby and an outdoor plaza with flexible space that can accommodate 60 to 500 guests. It's ideal for business conferences, conventions, fundraisers, performances and film premieres.
Red Rooster
Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson brought an outpost of his Harlem hot spot, Red Rooster, to Historic Overtown, and the restaurant became a modern classic practically overnight. With both indoor and outdoor space as well as a private dining room, the lively restaurant can accommodate everything from an intimate private dinner for 10 to a full buyout cocktail party for up to 200 guests, all while enjoying Samuelsson's beloved riff on sumptuous soul food.

Craft Your Event in Coconut Grove: Miami's Historic Gem
Coconut Grove is Miami's most historic neighborhood, dating back to when the city was incorporated in 1896. Henry Flagler's East Coast Railway workers, mainly from the Bahamas and American South, settled in the area at the turn of the century. To honor this history, a portion of Coconut Grove was officially designated Little Bahamas in 2022.
Coco-Bahamas
At The Taste of Coco-Bahamas, the name says it all. This outdoor events venue is dedicated to visitors who want to get a taste of Coconut Grove's Bahamian culture through food and live music. Available for small to large private events, it was founded in the heart of Little Bahamas to foster opportunities for diverse cultural connections and civic engagement. Onsite catering is provided by Spoons Smokehouse Bar-B-Que for authentic Bahamian cuisine, from smoked beef and pork ribs to smoked chicken, pulled pork, cracked conch, conch salad and more.
Mayfair House Hotel & Garden
Not far from Little Bahamas, the Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is a cornerstone of Coconut Grove culture, embracing the area's history and spirit through its unique architecture, lush environs and commitment to the arts. With its 8,500 square feet of event space, meeting planners can choose from various options for conferences, galas, receptions, cocktail parties and meetings. The sun-drenched, 3,326-square-foot Magnolia Ballroom can accommodate up to 300 guests, while the open-air, 2,600-square-foot terrace can host 350. The 434-square-foot Sombra conference room can accommodate up to 14 people for more-intimate meetings. The in-house team at Mayfair can assist with everything from A/V services to rentals and dynamic catering by the local hospitality group Lost Boy & Co.
How Meeting Spaces Promote Multicultural Interaction

From cultural exchange to connecting with communities in which your group identifies opportunities for immersive learning, an event in one of Miami's multicultural heritage neighborhoods adds richness, texture and depth for unforgettable meetings.
