Miami is bursting at the seams with trendy new hotels as well as iconic hotels that have been reimagined or refreshed. Many of these properties offer fabulous views and locations, airy, open spaces to socially distance, and unique and playful amenities. One new hotel is even backed by major star power, created by singer and producer Pharrell Williams. Another historic hotel has transformed into an adults-only oasis in South Beach. Now it’s up to you to decide which one best fits your vacation style. Or better yet, plan to stay in different hotel properties and neighborhoods to experience more of this top vacation spot.

Goodtime Hotel

This new hotel perched on Washington Avenue in South Beach has some serious star power behind it; it was created by singer Pharrell Williams and Miami nightlife guru David Grutman. With lush greenery at every turn and playful interiors, like pink landline phones in guest rooms that are decked out in pink-and-green hues, the Goodtime luxury boutique hotel is all about experiences that offer guests a good time. The heart of the hotel is the 30,000-square-foot pool deck dotted with cabanas. Guests can transition from day to night at Strawberry Moon, a restaurant, bar and pool club. There’s even a recording studio for aspiring singers and a cozy library to escape to for some quiet time.

Hilton Aventura Miami

Pack your credit cards and bring an extra suitcase. With a prime location near shopping mecca Aventura Mall, the sparkling new Hilton Aventura is the perfect respite for those who like to shop till they drop. Dazzling chandeliers, a glass fireplace and contemporary furnishings greet guests, along with breathtaking skyline views. Dine and sip at Gala or MuseBar, torch calories in the 24-hour fitness center or yoga studio, and then chill at the elevated pool with private cabanas. Serious shoppers should inquire about shopping packages with discounts and a personal shopper.

Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach

Tucked away at the edge of locals’ favorite, Sunset Harbour, this new Kimpton property is rich in design and full of nautical vibes. Many guest rooms feature private patios that overlook glimmering Biscayne Bay, and you’ll want to retreat to the rooftop pool for more scenic views. Another hotel perk is easy access to the beach, where guests can sunbathe in complimentary beach chairs. Don’t miss the gratis nightly wine hour in the lobby living room, then have dinner at Italian newcomer Osteria Morini. Bonus: If you’re a dog owner, pets of all sizes are allowed to stay and play.

Moxy Miami South Beach

Fun is the name of the game at Moxy in South Beach. This resort-style property features colorful murals throughout the hotel. Guest rooms are dressed in vivid Miami-inspired hues and drenched in sunshine, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. There are so many exciting design details like a circular cutout at the bottom of the pool, which allows lobby guests to peek at swimmers, a second rooftop lounging pool with killer views (silent movies are played here every night), an indoor-outdoor gym, and a dedicated beach club. Guests can indulge in six new dining and drinking venues, including the open-air rooftop restaurant Serena, an ideal spot for sunset cocktails and theatrical tableside presentations.

THesis Hotel

Escape to this chic new hotel in Coral Gables to stay and dine like a local. THesis, a new hotel brand, offers 245 guests rooms splashed with architectural furnishings and whimsical artwork. Those desiring extra space can spring for the penthouse suite with a state-of-the-art kitchen, dining room, living room and master suite. THesis boasts two on-site restaurants. Locals and visitors alike flock to island-inspired Mamey Miami, helmed by Chef Niven Patel, one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chefs.” Evenings are spent under the stars at the hotel’s rooftop terrace. The property partners with Ahana Yoga, offering guests free socially distanced yoga classes.

Berkeley Park Hotel

What’s old is new at again at this 1936 architectural gem recently reimagined as a boutique hotel where personalized service reigns. The luxury Berkeley Park Hotel retains its striking Mediterranean architecture but has all the modern amenities such as posh rooms fashioned with custom art by local artists and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a sprawling rooftop deck and pool. Mondrian South Beach

This South Beach hotel (long-known for its idyllic location on Biscayne Bay and unbeatable sunset views) has undergone a $20 million renovation. Much of the former Mondrian's fairytale designs are replaced with a modern-tropical aesthetic of billowing chandeliers, lush palms and organic elements that evoke the feeling of the Mediterranean. Taking a cue from what travelers now desire – al fresco dining and airy spaces – Baia Beach Club is the centerpiece of the hotel. The club feels like an outdoor living room, where hotel guests and local club members can drift among its open-air indoor/outdoor restaurant, The Sunset Bar and Terrace, and an expansive pool.
