Greater Miami & Miami Beach – one of the most sought-after meeting and convention destinations in the world – has just announced one more reason for planners to schedule an event here: Construction is expected to begin this fall on the new 800-room, Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Hotel that will be part of the Miami Beach Convention Center District. Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by end of 2027.

Location of the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach

The new hotel will be located at 17th Street and Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach – close to the New World Center, The Bass contemporary art museum and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.

Meeting and convention planners will be delighted to know that the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Hotel will be just blocks from the soft sands of Miami Beach, as well as the popular restaurants and shops of Lincoln Road – enhancing the destination’s appeal for their meeting attendees.

Meeting Space at the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach

On-site at the hotel, four floors of meeting spaces and ballrooms will complement the meeting spaces at the Miami Beach Convention Center. An elevated, climate-controlled pedestrian skybridge will allow easy movement between the hotel and the Convention Center, while allowing guests to enjoy artwork filling the corridor.

Accommodations and Amenities

The 17-story, 800-room hotel will have 12 floors of guest rooms as well as 52 suites, many offering views of Miami Beach.

A resort-style pool is planned, offering panoramic views of the beach and surrounding area. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy a signature restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, and retail shops at the street level.

As part of the hotel development, landscaped pedestrian promenades will be created on surrounding streets, while convenient features such as bike-sharing stations, dedicated ride-sharing pick-up and drop-off zones, and connection to public transit will enhance guests’ and attendees’ experience.

Resiliency and Sustainability

Using the latest in technology and sustainability best practices, the hotel will focus on resiliency and sustainability by planning for storm water management, mitigating flood risk and employing solar power. The goal is to ensure that the hotel’s operations will be sustainable on an everyday basis, as well as during weather events.

Development and Community Involvement

Development will be managed by David Martin of Miami-based Terra Group and Jackie Soffer of Turnberry Associates in Aventura. The Hotel was designed by award-winning local firm Aquitectonica, led by acclaimed architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia.

Plans for the new Grand Hyatt Miami Beach were approved by Miami Beach voters in 2018, and it is estimated that the project will create more than 1,900 construction jobs, as well as approximately 725 full-time jobs.
