The newly opened Frost Science features a wide array of spectacular meeting, event and conference facilities

The highly anticipated Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami’s Maurice A. Ferré Park overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay officially opened on May 8th. The museum is situated on four acres of land with four state-of-the-art buildings across a 250,000 square-foot campus that includes a world-class planetarium and aquarium.

Not only is it a hub for science and education for the community and visitors, it’s also a premiere venue for corporate, nonprofit and social meetings and events. Whether in the Aquarium, the Planetarium, special exhibition galleries, rooftop terraces, or any of the other unique indoor and outdoor spaces, the Frost Science Museum offers an inspiring backdrop that will surely leave a lasting impression on your Miami meeting or event attendees.

The Aquarium

The centerpiece of Frost Science is the stunning, three-level aquarium containing multiple habitats, ecosystems and subaquatic depths. You can host an event that snakes through all three levels.

The open-air rooftop Vista level is an 8,200 square-foot space with a capacity for 180 guests in a banquet-style arrangement.

Descend to the second Dive level that can hold your reception-style event with a cocktail bar for a capacity of 200 guests in the 7,000 square-foot space.

The bottom Deep level is a 3,800 square-foot space that seats 180 guests in a banquet-style setup for a lavish dinner event.

The rooftop vista level is designed to represent the surface of South Florida’s ecosystem. Here, you’ll find the open waters of the Gulf Stream Aquarium where pelagic fish, like hammerhead sharks, devil rays and mahi-mahi, glide through the current.

Additional exhibits are dedicated to the biodiversity of South Florida’s ecosystem, including the coral reef, mangroves, sandy beaches, the Everglades and an aviary. There’s also a touch tank where visitors have the opportunity to pet a stingray.

The second Dive level contains nearly 30 aquariums and interactive vessels. You’ll see everything from colorful damselfish to parrotfish and snapper swimming amidst coral heads, as well as the prop and drop roots of mangrove forests, expanding your knowledge of South Florida’s subtropical marine life.

The bottom Deep level represents the vast depths of the Gulf Stream, the swift moving, cold water current that traverses the globe just south of Miami’s shoreline. Using real-time satellite imagery, visitors will learn how the Gulf Stream’s powerful current impacts climates and ecosystems around the world. This is where you’ll view the Gulf Stream Aquarium through a 31-foot oculus lens and watch the mysterious fish of the ocean’s depths swimming above you.

The Planetarium

The Frost Planetarium is available for private presentations, movie screenings or lectures in addition to its programming. A pre-show reception area functions as a cocktail party or formal dinner with a capacity for 84 guests in a banquet-style arrangement.

The Planetarium is one of the most cutting-edge on the planet. The 250-seat auditorium is powered by an 8K visual system (that’s twice that of other planetariums) using six 3-D capable projectors with 16 million colors and surround sound. Viewers enjoy a near-360 degree virtual experience inside the planetarium’s 67-foot span. Whether you’re tumbling through space, exploring the ocean’s depths, stargazing or dissecting a human cell, the Frost Planetarium provides an immersive and exciting educational experience.

Featured Exhibitions & Event Spaces

Frost Science’s permanent and temporary exhibits are divided between the North and West Wings. Here, you’ll find ample space for research, education, meetings, conferences and special events.

The ground level of the West Wing is home to the museum’s onsite café Food@Science. In-house catering is available by SAVOR and executive chef Tony Terho. The 1,400 square-foot café can be transformed into a cocktail lounge or dining venue with a capacity of 175 people reception-style.

The 9,000 square-foot Special Exhibition Gallery is a double-height space designed with an oversized loading door, 4K projector and 28 foot-wide drop-down screen. With a capacity for 600 people banquet-style, it’s ideal for events, product launches, meetings and conferences. It’s also where the museum’s LASERsHOW: Light, Color and Geometry exhibit is found. Here, guests can experience the physics of light through an immersive laser show.

The 8,200 square-foot People & Science Gallery offers a high-tech spin on an evening gala for up to 408 guests banquet-style with an interactive LED dance floor and a wall-mounted LED screen with 4K displays that can be customized with your media. The space also offers a huge viewing window into the Gulf Stream Aquarium.

Outdoor Spaces

Take advantage of the ample grounds of Science Plaza on Museum Park for large events of up to 1,366 guests reception-style and the ability to incorporate tents into the 8,275 square-foot area.

The rooftop terraces of the North and West Wing make for stunning event spaces offering panoramic views of Biscyane Bay and the downtown Miami skyline. The West Wing’s Lunar Terrace can accommodate up to 260 guests reception-style across the 2,280 square-foot space. For a more intimate event, the North Wing’s Solar Terrace accommodates 120 guests reception-style on its 975 square-foot space.

Additional Conference & Meeting Spaces

Frost Science also offers a variety of smaller facilities that make for excellent conference and meeting spaces. Within the versatile Learning Center flooded with natural light, you’ll find three conference rooms with professional AV capabilities, as well as a large picnic terrace with bayfront views. The 3,120 square-foot space can seat up to 90 people banquet-style.

The West Wing Conference Room and Terrace offers flexible meeting space where the West Wing Conference Room (1,082 square-feet, 120 person reception-style capacity) and the West Wing Conference Room Terrace (1,422 square-feet, 150 person reception-style capacity) can be used separately or combined as one large meeting space.

The entire museum is also available for buyouts with up to 5,000 guests.

From out of this world to under the sea, Frost Science is a game-changing museum in Miami that’s a must visit for everyone. It joins the Peréz Art Museum Miami (PAMM) completing the vision of Museum Park as a hub dedicated to science, art and culture in the heart of downtown Miami.
