Miami’s most exciting dining promotion celebrates 20 years of deals

Greater Miami has grown and evolved in wonderful ways over the years, and so too has its restaurant scene. Once known primarily for Cuban food and a handful of iconic restaurants, Greater Miami is now a full-fledged, vibrant destination for foodies. The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau launched the Miami Spice Restaurant Months promotion 20 years ago to help spread the word about the destination’s culinary offerings. Today, the program continues to offer reasonably priced, prix-fixe menus at some of the best restaurants in the area – drawing attention to its dining hotspots and boosting tourism in Greater Miami. Visitors and locals alike look forward to Miami Spice every year, planning lunches, brunches and dinners at their favorite dining spots as well as at new restaurants. This year marks 20 years of Miami Spice, sponsored by Whole Foods and Woodford Reserve. The program runs from August 1 to September 30.

How It Works

During Miami Spice Restaurant Months, some of Greater Miami’s most exciting restaurants offer three-course, prix-fixe lunch, brunch and dinner menus at reduced prices. Lunch and brunch menus are priced at $28 per person, and dinner menus are priced at $42 per person (not including tax and tip). Drinks are not included in the price, unless specifically mentioned. Participating restaurants are spread across every neighborhood in Greater Miami, from Miami Beach to Downtown Miami, Wynwood, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and beyond.

Participating Restaurants

This year, more than 130 restaurants are participating in Miami Spice, giving diners plenty of ways to explore Greater Miami’s diverse neighborhoods through their cuisine. You’ll have a range of options in terms of location, cuisine type and atmosphere at the participating restaurants.

Savvy diners enjoy getting the most out of the Miami Spice program by taking advantage of fine dining options at reduced prices. Indulge in Michelin-level sushi and haute Japanese cuisine at Azabu Miami Beach in South Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. Nearby, Stubborn Seed is “Top Chef” winner Jeremy Ford’s intimate, upscale restaurant, where every ingredient is elevated with perfect presentation and creative techniques. Head farther north in Miami Beach to see what’s on the Miami Spice menu at Villa Azur Restaurant & Lounge, a luxe French-Mediterranean dinner club, or dine at Scarpetta by Scott Conant, the “Food Network” chef’s Italian “cucina rustica” concept in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Over on the mainland, Miami Spice is a great time to try two other haute Italian restaurants, Zucca Restaurant and Fiola Miami, both in Coral Gables.

For a more casual, laid-back option, try Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar, an elevated gastropub with a huge craft beer list. Go to Blue Collar, in the MiMo (Miami Modern) district, for a 70s-inspired vibe and Chef Danny Serfer’s indulgent twist on a classic American diner. Order fresh sushi at one of four Pubbelly Sushi locations. Stop in at Cervecería La Tropical, Wynwood’s brand new Cuban-inspired craft brewery with food by acclaimed chef Cindy Hutson. When you eat at Glass & Vine – helmed by “Chopped” winner Giorgio Rapicavoli – you’ll sample innovative dishes such as a watermelon salad topped with toasted corn and cotija cheese. Adding to the restaurant’s appeal is its idyllic setting in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park.
